I always liked him.

I think he was also Patti Smith's husband if I recall correctly.

That's really sad news, the latest in a long line of musicians to pass away recently.

RIP indeed.

Very sad news yesterday. Now Dio has a great keyboardist/guitarist for his band. I'm glad I saw Blue Oyster Cult before Allen left. RIP and thanks for "Lonely Teardrops."

It took me years to realize how important he was to BOC's sound and I am saddened to hear this news. Another great rocker gone to the great gig in the sky. The band is scheduled to play just a few blocks away from me next month. I wonder if they will carry on with a sub and rock to his memory or if the tour will be cancelled.

Here's one of the staples of my youth going away. I am so so saddened by this.

A sub? Allen hasn't played with BOC for years. I think the disease that killed him is what caused him to leave BOC in the first place.

Yeah, I just found out he had retired from the band due to his illness years ago by checking in on the gig. That's what I get for living in a cave. Still, bummage.

Love em. Allen wrote some awesome songs. Especially Tenderloin. My second concert was the Spectres tour in '77 and is a highlight of my youth.

I have played "Dominance & Submission" with a cover band many years ago...and I'm also a Patti Smith's fanboy. It's a very sad thing.
