Hi,

Gong from France? ... wow! Multi-National would be more like it ... but what the heck!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Not really fair as Ange and Magma have huge careers but there are many excellent discs from France, past an present such as Xang, Taal, Step Ahead, Nemo, Neo, Cosmos Dream, Chance, Magnesis, Eidolon, Maldoror, Tai Phong, Patrick Broguiere, Progression by Failure, Seven Reizh, One Shot and many many more.....
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

They do have international members, but according to PA and Wiki, Gong was formed in Paris, and the poll is "Favourite Band From France" Wink

Ponty for sure, followed by another not listed, Malicorne, whom I've just listened to.

I love Pulsar.  Halloween was the first album I ever bought by a French band...soon after I bought "Strands of the Future" and "Pollen".  Then I discovered Ange and me and French prog have been tight ever since Handshake

I'm going to shock no one when I say Magma over Shub.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Really tough choice between Magma, Shub Niggurath & Eskaton

Eskaton > Magma > Shub Niggurath > Dun > Setna > Scherzoo > Moving Gelatine Plates > Art Zoyd > Weidorje > Vortez > Zao

  Fantastic list right there.
One Shot, Abus Dangereux, Rahmann, Vortex, Travelling, Lard Free, Nebelnest (which was mentioned Thumbs Up ) Plat Du Jour and on and on. France has had such a vibrant music scene.
