I'm excited for the new Dream Theater album to come out. So here's a poll for the anticipation. What's your favorite DT album?

Definitely Images and Words. It gets better every time I hear it, and I have a pretty strong sentimental attachment to it as well.

Can't submit a vote here as I like them all differently and equally as much (each album does make a different statement to me musically) - the weakest point for me being the very first album. They have become the yardstick with which I measure music by these days - which may sound a little strange in that the genre of music that I love most as a genre falls into the "neo-prog" category.

Images and words is their best album by some way, but it still sounds like "progressive metal by numbers" to me.
If only their composition ability matched their musicianship, they would be as good as Riverside.

I know what you mean but a bit harsh I think since there was very little around in 92 of the same type. I'm drawn to Awake mostly these days.

Hmm... I'm going to have to go with Awake here! But Images and Words is very close, the rest not so much.
