Definitely nothing else quite like them.  I discovered them fairly late in the game (a few years ago), but now that I have a young child of my own, perhaps that puts me even more in tune with the psychological mess of a child's mind that this band tries to recreate.
A few weeks ago I found a copy of "I Crush Bozo" on red vinyl.  Seems fitting.

MEAT PUPPETS - "Up on the Sun" (1985)

These guys were as good at cover paintings as they were at music.

I have a number of Meat Puppets albums; just not the two that you have played.

Oh yeah...I Crush Bozo, not "killed"...been awhile LOL
I need to dust off an old cassette player and play that again. They do a pretty awesome job at channeling little kids' exaggerated emotions...especially fear. I have two boys, 2 and 5, and I swear they act like living embodiments of Happy Flowers songs sometimes. "Old Relatives" from I Crush Bozo is priceless.
