Love Charlie Mariano's reeds!

Indeed my friend! Where I had to give a few listenings to their previous albums to really dig 'em with Iskander I was floored after the first time. Very different album from what came before...well maybe not very but still contains a different approach, of course a lot of it is because Mr. Mariano!

You know Charlie Mariano rings a bell somewhere in the back of my head but I don't know from where?! Remind me please...

That Fifty Foot Hose is a cool album!  they had a great reunion album in the 90s too, called Sing Like Scaffold, that makes for a cool updating of their sound.

I know him from Embryo, but I think he's a fairly well known name in jazz circles.  My dad knew who he was, anyway.

Yep, exactly. He was born in The States and got to play with people like Charles Mingus (He even features on one of the most iconic jazz records ever 'The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady'), Elvin Jones, Stan kenton and the folks from United Jazz and Rock Ensemble. I believe he then moved to Germany in the start of the 70s.
