Just a curiosity for those interested in biology. A new species of shark has been discovered which walks rather than swim (see the video in the link).
Quite a curious case from an evolutionary biology point of view.

Erm... there is nothing special about this particular shark, all bamboo sharks "walk" in this way, the epaulette shark, first classified in 1788 is a *walking* bamboo shark.

This new discovery is merely a new species of an existing genus.

What?

^ it was a poorly worded article that gave the impression that "walking" was the new discovery not the arrangement of spots along the body.
What?

This documentary footage shows a shark that can walk:

There are actually quite a few other fish that can walk on land, one I think is called a mud jumper in English. Also some species of lungfish for that matter, unless I am mistaken.

Wow! This shark really walks from water! And this shark is not only next newly discovered species of an existing formerly described walking genus! And your documentary footage shows newly discovered ants with four tootsies only!

The next Jaws movie (what will it be, Jaws 14?  I lost the count) will be about mutant walking sharks who can breath out of water and invade us on dry land making Godzilla look like a pussy.

There's apparently a really dumb recent movie called Sharknado. They don't really walk or swim - they kind of fly quite a bit with the assistance of high winds. Then there's the movie Sand Sharks - cruising desert dunes with teeth. So I guess a movie about walking sharks will be next.

We're screwed.... What if they learn to use firearms next?

Angry (angry because I read article and realized this will not mean a shark-themed apocalypse)
