sorry for making a double thread, but i used the discography search and i havent found sth.
how should i proceed if i want to add sth.? Search the forum? which method is the best? and why is the subgenre question that hard? somehow this seems to show, that the term prog is perverted over the years and occupied by cheesy symphonic-rock bitches ... lol just add it under eclectic. the true prog! ;) there should be a reformation for the subgenres!!! why is EXPERIMENTAL/POST METAL together? there should be one genre for experimental/avant/rio and one for prog n extreme metal and why is there an italy one? consequently there should be one for every nation! it would also be good to reform the term fusion and not strictly link it with jazzrock, as it better fits to worldmusic these days. and where are all the indie/alternative bands? at post-rock? this should be more differentiated. time for PROG POP??? another question would be, if it would be interesting to eliminate all the subgenres and create a OPEN tag system. For SIGUR ROS iE, you have such terms like ambient, shoegaze, dream pop which is all not represented in the actual prog archives categorization. And you have a lot of bands in categorys, where the bands would never see themsleves. So prog is often a new style which is summed up by more things then we new. This must be taken care of!! prog is something in movement, something unfixed - it is avant, rio and experimental - always! otherwise it isnt prog! Only simple creativity in usual genres. where is the thread analyzing the subgenres!!?? :D |
