Close to the Edge. Yes is one band where I have no trouble picking my favorite. It really is one of the best prog albums of all time.
But the list after that would be harder to narrow down.

Hooray! Nice to see someone voted for the lovely self-titled album from 1969! Bit of a favourite of mine, even though I voted `Tales' in this poll. (also, unless it was a sarcastic vote, I'm kind of happy to see someone voted for `Big Generator', an album I quite like, even though I'd personally never rank it alongside their many greater defining works!)

Damn, they have a bunch of great albums. Fragile today, but on a different day it could be tYA, CttE, Relayer, and I know there's not much prog on Magnification, but I love that one too.

Going for the One. Edit: I also love 90125. I think it's one of their best albums..

I feel like you can't ask what is the 'best' Yes album, you have to ask what is your favorite.

Hah! It's not often we share similar tastes in music, but this time I am (almost) in agreement with you Hercules I may have swapped CTTE and Relayer, but that's nitpicking really. The Yes Album has always been my fave. I love the 'feel' of it. Such a heartfelt warmth to it that slowly but steadily proceeded to diminish with subsequent albums. Relayer for instance sounds almost robotic compared to it, but it still works for it. Had the production side of things been reversed on these albums, I'm not entirely sure about the outcome of either. It'd be interesting to hear though (So many 'what ifs' in the world of music)

I can't see how anyone that loves prog see anything in the power pop of Yes west---the stuff is okay but sounds 80's cheesy at this point. I read these comments about how great Rabin Yes is on fanboy sites but didn't expect to see it on a prog site. I mean I appreciate prog pop like Supertramp and still do-- but this guitar hero, tight leather pants Yes has not passed the test of time.

^So what you're saying is that you don't believe what some people state in here? They're just pulling your leg?
I actually like 90125 quite a bit too, but I don't think it's anywhere near their best.
Different strokes for different folks eh?
