I'm a pretty big TFK fan and was wondering what members on here thought. Or maybe some of you still have not discovered their music. Maybe some of you think they are too derivative. Bring it on! LOL

I'm assuming you must be a regular on the TFK appreciation thread....? Do we really neeed another thread on them when that one has almost 400 pages..?
Ok...just wanted to rant a little. Wink

I like TFK , I have over half of their cd's (I think the earlier ones are the best) and they are very talented . My problem is that at times I have a problem differentiating one album from another as to the  songs on each , and I also believe their cd's are a bit too long. I haven't heard the new one nor  have I bought any since the last 4 or 5 cd's. But I'll probably get back into them in the near future.

No, I'm not a fanatical PA poster but maybe I'll check out that thread. There's always room for one more thread plus this is technically a poll. Thanks for voting though. Big smile

Love the band, I always buy their albums and have never been disappointed. I know I'll get something of quality, with lots of colour, interesting and thoughtful spiritual lyrics and terrific playing!

If I'm in the mood for something with a proudly defiantly `prog' sound, can't go better that the Kings!

I'm the first to vote the "never heard their music" option. I'm sure I'll get around to it someday, but there are a lot of other groups I've backlogged, and they're not high on my priority list.

I listened to a few of their songs about five years ago and just wasn't interested. Maybe I will try listening to them again.

Can you recommend a few of their best tracks?

The Flower Kings is one the most important bands from Sweden. I actually live a few hours away from their hometown. I can understand the criticism they get, but I don't agree with it. I am gonna see them live in a special Christmas concert with Daniel Gildenlöw from Pain of Salvation. They say the concert is gonna be 3 hours long. Well yes I voted for that I like them.

A few years ago I was in my local CD shop and the guy that ran the prog section was just raving about them so I checked them out but wasn't impressed.  I was surprised as I was really into the Anekdoten/Landberk/Anglagard trio at the time and expected to be blown away...oh well Wink

Go to their page on here and listen to the songs that you can play. You can also go to youtube and look up some stuff. There's too many songs to list but maybe someone else on here can try to do that. ;) If you are a big fan of Genesis you can look for their version of "cinema show" or "the lamb lies down on broadway" to start with.

So far the only ones I've heard that are maybe a bit on the weak side are "Adam and Eve" and "Rainmaker." I actually like much of the Rainmaker though.

Thank you and yes Daniel Gildenlöw should be a member of The Flower Kings. He should definitely be the lead vocalist.

I only have their last album (or the one before the last, they are just about to release a brand new one, I understand). I liked it, specially the epic song, but wasn't particularly blown away. Perhaps some of their earlier stuff is better, eventually I'll try it. However, the comments about Daniel Gildenglow work just the same for "Transatlantic"... and indeed he should be the lead vocalist there too (of course, first he would need to be an official member of the band).

Their first 4 or 5 are pretty good. After that imo they all started to sound alike to me.
I still like the first one the best called Back in The World of Adventures when the style was new and original ...though there is one before that by Stolt not credited to the Flower Kings, but called The Flower Kings.

Complete trite. They sound like a bunch of dried up old people who can't let go of the past. Listening to them make me incredibly tired. None of their melodies and solos are really interesting and they go out of their way to make it sound as dated as possible.

I don't dislike them as strongly as this guy, but I still voted that I dislike them.

I dunno there is just not a single thing about them that engages me
