I can't say one is better than the other because which one I like the best depends on what kind of mood I'm in....what kind of music I feel like listening to... how much time I have to listen. They are both classic albums. "Tales..." takes longer for the average listener to appreciate, imo.

Love them both but Tales has more moments that make the hair on the back of my neck stand up But agree with what has been said here--Trick easier to listen to--Tales a real prog challenge but worth it.

Mmm... I guess Trick of the Tail is an easier album to listen to, and to like. And it's got more songs that I like than Tales. But there's nothing on Trick of the Tail that remotley compares to "Revealing Science of God". |

Tales is one of my all time favourites.

I am currently digging: Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz! Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

Quite difficult, both albums are very good but not the best of Genesis/Yes' discography, but on this occasion Tales From Topographic Oceans just about takes it for me

I have much love for Trick and its grounded fantasies but Tales takes me to another plane every time I hear it. I vote Topographic Go-Kart!
Yes has so many fine moments and that one may be the most deep and complex of them all - not best but neither is Tail for to my ears. I feel they hit a better stride on Wuthering but that may have just been the melancholy sound of an era in omega.
