Neil Peart because he is the most complete prog drummer I've heard.

I'm gonna be the oddball and vote for Mattias Olsson. His style is most similar to my own, only he doesn't have the same weaknesses I do. Everything about his performance is so tight and expressive. I'm always impressed and inspired when I hear him play.

I could easily vote for everybody on the list, but I'll choose Bill Bruford.
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Neil Peart, but I also like Bill Bruford, Carl Palmer, Phil Collins, Nick Mason and Robert Wyatt

Danny Carey. He makes me pay more attention to the drumming than I usually do. Mezmerising.

No one can match Bruford, not even from this list.

The thing I enjoy most from what I consider Bruford's best work (Heart of the Sunrise, Close to the Edge, And You and I) is the singularity, or, uniqueness, of his style.

Arguably, there's not a lot of drummers that can be spotted by listening alone. Bruford, I feel, is one. Stewart Copeland may be another.
Making the useless useful 24/7.

Neil of Rush is the best. However, Bill and Alan of Yes (former also with King Crimson), Phil of Genesis, Carl of ELP, and Nick of Pink Floyd just follow him.

Bruford---but Collins is amazing on early Genesis--and White has soul---there are lots of good one's --don't get Peart really.

Collins, but I'd have easily chosen Blake Richardson had you put him on the list

From the list I guess my current fave is
although I just as easily could've gone for Vander, Bruford or Clive Bunker.

Some others who aren't mentioned that I probably would've voted for had they been up for grabs are:

Jerzy Piotrowski (SBB)
Mani Neümeier (Guru Guru)
Jaki Liebezeit (CAN)
Pierre Moerlen (Most notably for his work on Gong's You)
Thorstein Lofthus (Shining, elephant9)
Frank Niebel (NIL)
Jon Hiseman (Colosseum)

and many many more that I can't remember right now. My head is full of other things - stuff like children, lack of money and food.

Michael Giles have probably the best cymbal work in rock/music ingeneral, and cymbal work is the signatur for any drummer, and is the element which realy distinguish a great drumer from a good drumner

Bruford and Vander would be a logical choice, but I want to give a vote to Andy Ward.
Of the non-listed here, I'd say Clive Brooks (Arzachel - Egg )
Curiosity killed a cat, Schroedinger only half.

Voted Vander.  As others have mentioned, I'm very fond of Moerlen, Neümeier, Liebezeit, Cutler, Wyatt, Cobham.
