Both Earthshine and Secret Touch are two of my fav Rush songs....Side II right now so not there yet...I can't wait, will turn it up loud I think! Peaceable Kingdom kicks A$$ too.....

The remix is better, more music comes out, little tidbits I cannot really hear on my original CD copy, but here clear as a bell.

If your table will accept an acrylic platter upgrade, that is all you need, and a light source of course...ohhh and colored vinyl too.

Its a lamp from above...that thin pole is an Ikea LED lamp I use to light up my analog area. There are some folks with these type of tables (with acrylic platters or plinths) that will actually install small LED bulbs underneath to gain same effect....Ikea sells LED strips that has several colors which can be cool also.

Then you have the most important part to accomplish this audio eye-porn.....Just need a lamp/light source and colored vinyl.

I normally use a cork mat, but to allow the light to go all the way thru I have to remove the cork mat.

have fun!

Vapor Trails is among my favorite Rush albums. I don't like the remixed version nearly as much, tho.

Vapor Trails kicks a$$ and takes names.....I have the vinyl remix and love it. There are sounbs and tidbits here and there that I don't hear on my original CD version.

BTW for me is perfectly fine, the rawness, edginess and power of that album when it came out speaks volumes for their return to the studio.

Way cool, Jose. Almost 90 mins - should be out as an official DVD ??
Oh, and why is it that only a small amount of us feel this way about the Long-Player ?? It's practically a ritual - I mean, it feels 'incomplete' just plonking a little silver disc on an automatic tray and letting it play for its entire duration...... no intermission to absorb the first half of the album, no flipping over of the disc, and no BIG, substantial package to enjoy.......
Not dissing CD's at all, but no comparison to 12"x12".
And also, DVD's are far superior to video-cassettes, or laser-discs.....proving that love of the LP is not just some 'retro' fad. It's fantastic that such great music, like Spock's Beard, Flower Kings and Transatlantic have their work committed to vinyl.

"small amount of us feel this way..." only on this website, which is fine. There are other sites where the 12" and 7" wax are praised for all their glory.
I do realize it can be tedious to play vinyl, especially in this world of now-now-now!! But for me and oodles of other vinyl lovers, we would not have it any other way.
What is cool is the volume of 20-30 somethings that are getting into vinyl, another generation that will not let it die...not that it ever did.

Long live vinyl!

I went to Record Store Day, it was my first so I didn't know what to expect. I went to Vintage Vinyl thirty minutes before it opened and the line went all the way around to the back! Definitely going a couple hours earlier next year. After three hours of waiting in line, I picked up the 50 minute version of The Flaming Lips' "7 Skies H3", on beautiful clear(ish) vinyl, which was my biggest priority, Joy Divisions' "An Ideal for Living", Nirvana's "Pennyroyal Tea" single, and two Yes albums while I was waiting in line (which went throughout the store). All and all it was 71 bucks, almost all of the allowance I had saved up for the past four months, but definitely worth the wait and cash, although I unfortunately missed out on Devo's "Live at Max's Kansas City: November 15, 1977".

Awesome man!!!! Boy I sure remember the days of spending all my allowance money at the record store when I was a teenager.

I went to my local vinyl store, could not make it to Seattle or Tacoma this year.

Speaking of RSD, just finished watching this...pretty good since most of it is filmed in Seattle

Brilliant SQ on this issue! Detail is superb, exceeds my CD version by a few levels. Some of the more delicate songs standout as compared to like Wedding Nails which kicks a$$. This vinyl is mixed excellent, nothing too loud or soft, very balanced.

Another winner for Porcupine Tree vinyl.
