^ yeah. If I could ever come across one within my budget, I would snatch it in a heartbeat. Doesn't seem to be a ton of them floating around Idaho, though.

^ I have been looking for over 2 years and nothing so far....I'm going to make a pilgrimage to Chicago soon.
Picking up Spotlight Kid by Beefheart and On The Boards by Taste this weekend from my local shop. Found a clean copy of Salty Dog by Procol the other day.

Some you can tell are simple digital drops/transfers like DT12 and ADTOE, nowhere near as dynamic sounding as Six Degrees, ToT or Awake. I also have ZERO desire to purchase Awakening on vinyl 1) Too expensive 2) Boring release. But yes, some of these DT vinyl issues are excellent.

Ron Carter understands the reason behind having a well matched audio system and something that gives him all the music, and if it does not he looks into the reasons why.....Awesome!

^ Great interview, very informative. It's always good to see musicians that are interested in listening to what they play as much as actually playing.
It's been a while since I posted here, although I haven't spun many new records as usual. Most of what I bought lately was Psychedelic Rock albums I got at concerts. Second album from the Spanish instrumental band El Pįramo. A guitar on each channel, some odd bass playing in the center and drums all over it, conducting the band and the listener to strange landscapes The Black Wizard's debut, I had it on CD already but I couldn't resist buying this cool vinyl It sounds like a mixture of Black Sabbath with Led Zeppelin (especially the drums' production reminds of Bonham) and female vocals. In terms of quality, it seems only slightly better than the CD to my ears, less flat and compressed. It's limited by the recording quality I guess. A Folk album with Rock and Jazz influences and progressive leanings. It's much better than I expected and I was affraid the record wasn't in great condition but fortunately it's better than the cover. The new album from the Stoner Rock band Miss Lava, it seems like their best one already. Very well produced (much better than their noisy predecessor), more energic and confident with some welcome Space Rock influences. And here's their debut EP. The cover unfolds to become a poster, how cool is this?

Another amazing recording, mastering, mixing, pressing of a Marillion album. Some of the new album was recorded at Real World Studios owned by Peter Gabriel, a very fine studio creating great recordings.
All my normal vinyl adjectives apply to this issue.....What I really enjoy is hearing Mark Kelly's keyboards at the front of the music, really nice. |
