If it's OK to plug something here.  I am have a few of my "vinyls" (I never remember calling them that.  They were records or LPs) for sale posted on ebay under brlin-3215.  PM me and we can bypass them.  I can also send a spreadsheet of everything I have to offer. Big smile
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

^ I assume PA allows plugging things for sale on fleabay. I'll for sure take a look........Of course they are records or LPs. Problem is today people say "check out my new record" (and its a CD). Saying vinyl is just a way for the people of today to understand what we are talking about.

And on this thread it is 100% about Records, LPs, Vinyl......no CDs or Digital files allowed!!! LOL Smile

I saw this (yes, it's one of my guilty pleasures) in the Christmas clearance section and when I saw that it was colored, I just had to have it.

But my turntable doesn't play leather.  Besides, I've heard that leather makes everything have a pastoral feel to it.  Clown

That's pretty awesome!
Does it play well?

No Civilization here. Tried it on but it would not fit.
Seems only a thin veneer. A little rubbing and it comes off quick.

I had a few colored disks ... as a kid.

I imagine it's really some kind of plastic

I wonder what your needle "thinks" about it!  LOLLOL

I need a new copy of Charlie Brown Christmas, mine is so old......The colored vinyl looks very cool. It's not a plastic, same formula just with color added. Here GZ Media gives a nice down to earth explanation of their process, as well as other info on vinyl media if you want to read about.

Thanks for catching that answer for me.  It is beautiful vinyl and my needle loves it.  It has the best sound I have ever heard for that album.

I would only recommend it as a children's record if your child loves jazz, and yes that is possible.  Most kids would probably get bored with it, but then, there are some smart music-appreciating kids out there too.

Obviously you read that wrong.  Let me clarify.  The only time I would recommend it as a children's record is if your child loves jazz.  Otherwise, it is an adult jazz record.  Children might like it for a few minutes, but I feel most of them would get bored because it isn't geared towards children as much as it is for serious jazz lovers.  Nuttin wrong with me.  Wacko

I have not looked at how that colored one you have was mastered. I assume it was a mastered from a digital mastered file, which is fine....Can you tell me the spine info, deadwax info, barcode if any? I'd like to look it up on Discogs. The one I saw at my local record store in october was black but I think it was pressed at QRP.

This is actually an exclusive coloring made for Cracker Barrel according to the front sticker and there is a number under that CR01465.  The barcode is shared with other exclusive reissues.  It is 025218843119.  Spine info is Fantasy F-8431 with a copyright from 1988 Concord Music Group.  Side A Runout contains the following numbers: 69810RE-2 , F8431 A3 RE5 , and *MS  Hope this give you the info you need.  I couldn't find any info on how it was mastered other than it was done by George Horn.

^ Excellent thanks........Found your issue, the Cracker Barrel one. Here is the link if you want it.

The one I want is too expensive, released in 2006 mastered by Kevin Grey and Steve Hoffman pressed at RTI as 45RPM, out of print and run about $200.

I'll get the QRP pressed one probably, came out 2yrs ago...only $30.

I mostly only buy vinyls but I rip them in Hi-Res 24 bit 192 kHz FLAC and stream the from my computer... I'm afraid i'm a little bit to lazy to lify my ass every 20 minutes to change the vinyl disc.

Btw, I use a Benchmark DAC1/DAC2 connected between my computer and my Onkyo A-809 amp to get good sound quality at my 4 x Dali Concept 10.
