Yeah, that really is a helluva jump. I'd be inclined to agree he's not ready but things are different now. If one has the skill, it seems it's possible to be 18 and drive for titles! Maybe the general increase in skill, competition and strength of feeder series.

This may also be old news but I was inspired to check after the Top Gear episode: Schumi is in a wheelchair, paralyzed and unable to speak. God to think this is the 7 time champion and once unbeatable Michael Schumacher Cry
I'm glad to see Alonso back but heart broken over Michael Schumacher. I really thought that he was a real life Terminator.  I guess we're all just human at the end of the day.

No luck but bad luck for Brian is there?

The thing with Kvyat, he's obviously very talented but I don't think he's done a better job than Magnussen did, the big difference between them being that Kvyat hada much easier team mate in Vergne to go up against. I mean lets face, with current F1 Button is not the easiest of team mates to have for your debut season.

Speaking of Vergne, looks like he's strongly linked to join Indycar next year.

And to add to some bad news in the racing world, Brian Vickers had to have a form of heart surgery to repair a patch added back in 2010 that was rejected by his body.  Because of this, he'll have to miss the start of the 2015 season.  Poor guy can't catch a break with his health.

Kvyat was announced back in Japan. Frankly Vettel jumping ship caught Red Bull on the hop, Kvyat's not really ready for the A team and they know it but they've got no choice since they almost universally prefer to take young drivers from their own scheme than hire someone else.

Kvyat!? Did not expect that, though he had an impressive year.
I actually thought maybe Massa would be dropped, though I did think for sure Button would be! That's perhaps the big shocker.

In terms of driver combo....Vettel and Kimi is pretty unholy, but who knows how sh*t Ferrari will be!

Whoa Carlos Sainz Jr! I remember Sainz from the WRC days, I liked him, cool to his son get in F1. I was wondering when Carlos Munoz will make it. Maybe if he has a better year in Indy?

I can only imagine there's a lot of money involved somewhere but god knows where, it's really turning into a farce.

Looks like the Korea race is a red herring, even the organisers don't know about it. Bare with me, this'll take a bit of explaining. The rules next year state that each car will only have 4 Power Units (engine, batteries, MGU-K, MGU-H, electronics, turbo) to use over the season, down from 5 this year, but if there's more than 20 races that goes back up to 5. It seems this has been done to help Renault, Ferrari and Honda, as the first two will likely have to push things a lot further than Merc on performance to catch up at the possible expense of reliability and Honda are brand new. It's a rather arse backwards way of doing things but thats F1 for you.

Next years calendar, with 21 races! Korea has come out of absolutely nowhere to be added in 1 week before Spain, which is nuts in itself, but it also clashes with the Spa WEC race. Hulkenberg is going to be absolutely f**king livid as he's just signed with Porsche to do Spa and Le Mans next year alongside his racing with Force India. Pretty certain this is Bernie being a spiteful b*****d and not wanting F1 drivers to drive anything else, as soon as it's announced Hulk wont race at Spa Korea will probably disappear from the calendar.

Interesting bit of news, Hulkenburg, who has already been confirmed at Force India for next year, has been announced as a driver in Porsche's third 919 LMP1 car for the Spa 1000 and Le Mans 24 hours.

This should be good to see, and fair play to Vijay Mallya for letting him. Rumour has it that Alonso might join him next year as well as race for McLaren.

Wow, been so busy can't believe I forgot to post here!

Needless to say: Congrats to Lewis on the title!
I was pulling for Nico, and for a while he kept right in step, (maybe even in the better position briefly) but Lewis was the superior driver and it slowly turned his way, until hope really was low...
At least he did push it all the way to the very end, and it was a brilliant year for Nico, very consistent, some smooth and finesse driving, and at least kept up with Lewis well as one could. Wish he didn't bomb the finale to at least keep it closer, but what can ya do? Great driving Nico, get em next year.

Of course this is one of the dominant years in F1 history, 11 wins, brilliant. Most importantly he stepped up when needed most.

HUGE year for Ricciardo, I think no one can say with sincerity they expected this result.
Bottas of course deserves some huge kudos for his brilliant year, and same to Alonso who yet again had to drive the hell out of some serious crap. Is a shame what Ferrari has been like recently...I am gunna miss him as well, but hopefully he will find better success at McLaren.
I have been hard on Jenson, but I do like the guy, and he turned out to be a better driver than I gave him credit for with his, (totally earned) but weak title...that said I expect Alonso to be the far better driver.

Great season! Great title battle, lots of talent through the whole field.
Super excited for 2015!

I doubt it will get too ugly between Hamilton and Rosberg, there was a lot of friction between them over the summer but it all seemed to drain away by Japan and just left it as an on track rivalry.

While I'd agree that Jenson isn't as good as Alonso, I reckon that if they're team mates next year Button will push him harder than any team mate has since Hamilton in 07.

^I highly agree. Hamilton is a worthy champion and the championship was not some kind of giveaway due to Nico's great driving and his pushing of Lewis all year. It was not one of the bitter rivalries like Prost and Senna, but next year it could get uglier. We'll have to wait and see.

I was disappointed to hear Ferrari's team boss, whose name isn't worth looking up, bashing Alonso's great efforts this year in what was essentially a down on power lorry with wings. He deserved better than that as he drove like an former world champion in an inferior car all year, without complaining, and has became a favorite of mine because of it. I don't want Button go but, sorry, he is simply not in the same league as Alonso.

I will miss Alonso much more if he's not on the grid next year.

Here's to the 2015 F1 season!

And Lewis takes it, excellent victory and a deserved champion. Fair play to Nico who went along to congratulate him in the waiting room afterwards before the podium.

Will Rosberg win? Will Bottas spoil the show for Hamilton? Will I win a million dollar lottery?

Tune in tomorrow for complete joy or agony!

Good effort from Rosberg to put it on poll, though Hamilton is usually faster on race day anyway. The Red Bulls failed the post qualy load deflection test on the front wing and have been sent to the back of the grid, so it should be fun watching them come through the field tomorrow.
