Terrible.  Guess I shouldn't feel so bad about McLaren being mediocre, although I wish Button were a little more aggressive at times.

Because of the financial problems Lotus had last year this years car was really late, a lot of the problems they're having now are the kind of things the other Renault teams sorted weeks ago. They'll improve quite a bit but probably not before Spain at the earliest.

I wouldn't call McLaren mediocre, they're not fighting Merc for wins bu they're in that battle for second place behind them. It's not really a surprise, there are only two teams that do everything themselves and Merc has clearly done a much better job than Ferrari (RBR might be the works Renault team but they are separate entities). It should also be noted that with McLaren going to Honda next year Mercedes are strictly keeping to the letter of their contract and not providing any other assistance, certainly less than FI an Williams are getting, and keeping Mac personnel away from the car whilst they work on the engine, all to try an prevent information loss to Honda.

To be fair, I've been saying that about Button for years...

Missed the race and forgot to record it since I had a hectic week/weekend.
Whatever, hopefully it wasn't anything too noteworthy.

Merc really is the top team it appears. Congrats to Lewis, and Nico who already has 3 podiums and continues to lead the points!

Great race for Force India with both Perez and Hulk up there, both Williams in the points (certainly a rebound year) and Ferrari brings up the rear. Guess nothing too crazy, though I do wonder how Ricciardo ended up ahead of Vettel!

Good race this morning and a great fight for the lead towards the end.  Honestly, Hamilton drove flawlessly to hold off Nico being on the softs.   Some great battles throughout the field today, overall.  That three car battle at one point with the two Force India's and Massa was fantastic.

Excellent race, that battle between Rosberg and Hamilton was spectacular, I'm very glad that Mercedes seem to only have one team order, don't take each other off. Great 3rd place from Perez, first for FI since Fisichella's last race for them at Spa 09. Shame about Button's retirement, he'd pulled a great move on Alonso early on and was hunting down the Force India's before the safety car, he'd virtually caught Hulk. And an excellent move from Ricciardo on Vettel, you don't see that too often.

Huzzah! Turns out my roommate recorded it!

That was sick, some great battles all race long, and with all the teams getting mixed in there. Great stuff.
Needless to say the Hami/Rosberg battling was epic.
Indeed, the team has said there are no orders...going to make one helluva year I think. Especially with Hamilton saying the two do not like each other, hell yes! This is what I'm talking about.

Indeed, Ricciardo has no fear of Vettel. It's great to see.

Just thinking but is F1 the only sport where team mates can be against each other?

I'd guess Cycling as well, though in Road Racing it seems to be that the teams are set up to have one man go for the win and the others act as support or specialise for certain types of stages. Athletics as well if you take each country as being a "team" rather than it being a purely individual sport.

I don't think Hamilton's said at any point he doesn't get on with Nico, but there are a lot of people in the press that have tried to make it out that they are/were best friends and this was never the case, regardless of how long they've known each other. Given that they're the only two really going for wins, at least so far, I think it's inevitable that there will end up being some tension between them but as long as they keep it clean on track like yesterday then it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

It was funny watching the TV coverage of Hamilton celebrating his victory after the race and you saw Rosberg 'happy for my team mate to win' face slip for a moment almost into a slight grimace when he thought the camera was no longer on him. Wonder if anyone else spotted that?
The old adage ' Show me a good loser and I will show you a loser' always remains true.

Monday morning Cup race was pretty fun watch today from Texas.  Good battles, multiple leaders and fight to the finish.  Gordon was close to his 89th win, but Logano was just too fast today.

Pretty much.
I guess there is running, (I only know about it because my 2 roomies are hardcore runners) but they have teams, where they train together, do stuff together, and of course get collective points for their team, but really it's a team of individuals all trying to beat each other.

Yeah, I'm too lazy to find the quote but Hami didn't say they dislike each other, just that were certainly not friends. That part can't be misconstrued...was quite clear they are not buddiesLOL
We shall see if this remains the case though...we know how the 2 #1s often goes down. If they don't dislike each other now, they may by years end!

Excited for next weekend. Long Beach GP, always one of my favorites.

Well, what he said to the BBC was that he could count the number of friends he has on one hand and Nico wasn't one and that it would be the same with Nico. Given the context and the way he said it I'm pretty certain he was talking specifically about close friends that he completely trusts rather than friends in general.

Maybe? I took it as a sort of, not too direct way of saying they didn't like each other, but who knows?

Anyway, excited for Long Beach!
I randomly remembered that Dario is retired, makes me sad. Alas, hoping for a good Indy season. Will Helio or Power finally make it happen??

It's been confirmed today, Gene Haas (co-owner of the Stewart Haas NASCAR team) has got an entry to F1 next year.

Southern 500 at Darlington is on right now.  One of the best races of the year and a track that should have two dates instead of one.

Agreed. They don't make tracks like that one anymore.

Ryan Hunter Reay on poll for Long Beach tomorrow. Some seriously big names got dropped out of Q1 like Power, Sato, Montoya, Kanaan!

This is one of the few street circuits that I look forward to each year.

RHR on Pole! :D :D

Say wah Mills? I LOVE street circuits!

mmmm Darlington. I don't like what NASCAR was becoming but THAT is a track that you gotta love < 3

Edit: I was wondering if JPM would need some adjustment getting back into open wheel. Guess picking him as a winner of Long Beach was a tad presumptuous of me. It still can happen though!
