You guys will be disappointed, looks like Max will be back in the race seat for Spa, though at least Rossi got to do FP1.

Good start to the weekend for Hamilton, faster than Rosberg on one lap
and long run pace in FP2, lets hope nothing breaks on his car for qualy
this time. Vettel had an electrical issue in FP1 that did some damage so
he had a complete power unit change and missed the second session,
thats either his 4th or 5th unit, he's almost certainly going to end up
with penalties by the end of the year. Kimi had a misfire so could do
any fast laps and Maldonado found another barrier to get acquainted with
early on and Gutierrez had a gearbox problem that spun him out at
Blanchemont. Lotterer's looking very good, he's matched Ericsson for
pace in both sessions which isn't bad for someone coming in cold, even
if Ericsson's not much of a yard stick. Pos Driver Team Time Gap Laps

lol yup turns out that was a flop, there is ironically another replacement as Kobayashi is out and replaced by Lotterer. Knew the name was familiar and of course, he's the 3 time out of 4 years LeMans winner.
Rosberg on pole again! Ferrari places at 4th and 8th with kimi yet again being the lesser one.

Interesting session. Hamilton glazed the left front brake so couldn't beat Rosberg, I'm surprised no one crashed and it was very cool to see Lotterer out qualify Ericsson by a second, making the Swede look quite bad.

Even if it's a long circuit, it was quite impressive by the Mercedes to put 2 seconds from their nearest rivals. Gonna be a nice fight for 3rd, I'd say especially between Vettel and Alonso.

BTW I don't know if you have seen the unbelievable saving of MotoGP's Marc Marquez in this week's testing in Brno. Here's a 12 picture sequence of the event, hard to believe he could save the crash

Wow, thats one hell of a save.
I think the conditions flattered them, Williams would have been a lot closer in the dry. I noticed about half of that gap came in the 3rd sector, from Stavelo to the finish, which is unusual as it's normally the first 2 sectors that are make-or-break.

Wow Ricciardo again! Needless to say, I did not expect this kind of performance from him. What a debut year at RBR. Rough result for Lewis...bumps Nico's cushion up to 29 points, beyond the one race swing of points.
Another podium for Bottas and Kimi outperforms Fernando. Very cool, though pretty normal results basically.
Edit: Oh how could I forget? A sterling F1 debut for Andre Lotterer, retiring after 1 lap. Welcome to life as a back marker

Both Toto Wolf and Nicki Lauda were very angry at Nico Rosberg (not to mention Hamilton of couse...). Well done Ricciardo, Bottas and Kimi. The fight between Magnusson, Alonso, Vettel and Button had some great moments too!

That was a great fight at the end. Nico cost both Mercs the win today, Toto obliquely put the blame all on him in the BBC interview.
Magnussen's been given a 20 second penalty for forcing Alonso onto the grass on the run to Les Combs whilst lapping Ericsson, that drops him to 12th and moves Hulkenberg up into the points.

Yeah but hey, this is what we were hoping to see! Was a pretty show to boot.
Ouch, that is rough...works out for Hulk though.
I am excited for the Sonoma GP, will be sure not to miss this one. Great track and if things break right can really put Power in good position.

Apparently Nico admitted to doing it deliberately in a team meeting after the race, this one may run a bit.

Oh sh*t..well, hope this doesn't come back to severely bite him in the ass. Always hate when a title is partly, or worse, determined by stuff like this.
Apparently the Sonoma area had a fairly hefty Earthquake. This is and the fires...Cali problems

Wow! What a race.
Gotta feel for Helio, caught up in a wreck on the very first lap, absolutely not his fault, but really tanked his race. Will Power had this race won, without question until he spun, his own doing, and while he clawed back to around 12th really quite a mistake. In fact he almost blew up his day again by making some very dicey moves on the last lap. Imagine if he crashed on the last lap all over 2 points.
Anyway, Mike Conway was in great position but just couldn't make it quite to the end on fuel, and Scott Dixon takes the win Guy always seems to be there. RHR got oh so close, I think his car better, maybe with a few more laps could've nabbed him but alas, has to settle for 2nd.
Helluva race.
Also, Graham Rahal made a great move on Conway and he was always going to be a few laps short on fuel, but was a great effort to see him lead. Things are still more or less wrapped up, but this does keep Helio, Pagenaud and even RHR technically alive.

I think with Nico, most people have pretty much come to the conclusion that Hamilton is a better wheel to wheel racer than he is, a fair conclusion IMO, and this was less a deliberate collision than trying to put down a marker that he wasn't going to be a push over. Unfortunately he was rather kack handed with it as he should have backed out sooner, and ended up just reinforcing the opinion that Hamilton is better at dicing.

Indycar final this weekend. I've no doubt Power will finally wrap it up being Will Power he'll some how contrive to make it as nail biting as possible.

So quickly it ends. But yes...that'll probably happen alright.

Yup, only way to blow it is for Power to have an engine failure or crash early on and finish WAY down the order. Helio is on pole, so that adds to the nail biting.
In fact I did some quick math, I think for RHR to win he'd need to win, lead the most laps, and have Power end up 25th or lower. Pagenaud: 20th or lower. Helio has it easier, and with the pole bonus I think if he won Power would have to be 8th I believe, so that is actually feasible.
Aleshin had a pretty horrific accident and has been injured. Honestly ever since Texas 2003 (yeah quite a grab down in the memory bag) I've thought big ovals were too dangerous for Indy. Surprised they still race at Fontana.
Anyway, hope for any exciting race tonight

Quite a race. Tense for a while, but I assume Power was just playing it safe.
Congrats to Kanaan on winning the race and of course Will Power on finally nabbing that first title!! Painful for Helio, but was a helluva fight. Guy can still joke though, I hope he gets one man. I think with JPM getting back on track, Munoz looking strong, and always RHR, Pagenaud and Dixon there...may be quite an exciting future for Indy
