Congrats to Power for finally putting one away!

Who knows...maybe now he'll be able to move forward and win more championships that the monkey is off his back. Can't help but feel sorry for Helio though...one day...one day. I hope.

Here's to more racing in the indycar series next year!

Can anyone remember when was the last time Penske won the title, it's been a few years?

They have been in so many kinds of racing I don't really know lol  I wiki'd the team but yeah, they've done a bit of everything!

Quickly, it seems the last Indy title Penske won was with Sam Hornish Jr in 2006. I'm guessing that was the last
Before that seems it was Gil de Ferran (damn haven't heard that name in ages) who won his cart titles under Penske in 2000 and 2001

I do think it'll be quite a year in 2015. JPM came on strong at the end, I think he could be added into the mix and some of these other young drivers are impressive.
Also, I can't believe how well the Ed Carpenter team did with splitting the races like that. I have no idea their financial situation, but if possible I wonder if Conway could maybe be convinced to do ovals again. Just both are so strong at their respective types of track

Ed Carpenter and Sarah Fisher have merged their teams so it'll be Carpenter Fisher Racing for next year. Conway wont do ovals again, in fact he's got a good chance of getting in with Toyota's WEC team as he's been their test driver this year and was very impressive in LMP2 last year. Newgarden is obviously talking with them as is Hildebrand.

Yeah, that was the year I was thinking of, it's amazing that it's been 8 years since the last Penske title in Indycar, and I'm willing to back JPM for next year.

I would love for Helio to get that monkey off of his back next year and finally get his first title like Power did this year, and hopefully it'll happen, but JPM was very strong this year as well.  I wouldn't complain if he stormed to a title next year.

Also, don't forget that Conway is driving for Dragon Racing in Formula E this year, so who knows where that might lead.  The season starts in a couple of weeks and goes all the way until the end of June of next year.

Thats a point, though I don't think there are many drivers in that series treating it as their main area of competition as most race in other series.

I wanted to post a couple of pics of the Sonoma IndyCar race.  I'll leave these two here for now.  As you can see, my dad was crapping himself and I managed some vintage goofy smiles.  LOL

And one more from our seats as Dixon took the checkers.

Monza! Can't wait.
Also, will the Italian air produce another miracle for Ferrari!?
By that I mean both RBRs, McLarens, and probably a Williams DNFing LOL

Looks like it could be a good weekend for McLaren, Button and Hamilton were swapping fastest times for a while, though Jensen was swapped onto used tyres early and couldn't respond to Hamilton's best. Still, it's only FP1 so Mercedes have plenty of time to pull clear and Williams always run heavy on a Friday. There's 23 drivers as Perez and Juncadella shared their Force India. Not looking good for Lotus, it took most of the session for Maldonado to clear the Marussias! And Kobayashi will be in the Caterham this weekend, Merhi just gets FP1.

I haven't read anything so far but it's been noted that RB is definitely down in the speed traps.

EDIT: After a little more digging around, looks like Red Bull had some DRS problems early on and then Ricciardo had some sort of failure that ended the session early for him.

Fairly straightforward qualifying, Rosberg never looked likely to beat Lewis and great job from the Williams pair. Interestingly their long run pace on Friday was the best of all teams so I'm hoping Bottas might be able to take the fight to the Mercs, particularly if Nico has his usual start. Kvyatt gets a 10 place penalty for using his 6th engine, he had qualified 11th.

McLaren did quite well beating Alonso, it's clear that the engine power is important at this track, it will be interesting to see the fight in the race between the 3 of them and the Red Bulls. Disappointing Raikonen.
I doubt the Williams will be able to fight the Mercedes. It's likely to be a 1 stop race so not much room for strategy either.
My bet is on Lewis.

Excellent race with some brilliant racing throughout the field. Great to see Lewis coming back from a bad start, passing Massa and Magnussen and then scaring Rosberg off the road! Amazing passing by Bottas and Ricciardo and the Button/Perez battle was hugely entertaining and very fair.

Entertaining race indeed. Weird how a racer the caliber of Rosberg could make 2 such mistakes, these guys are used to standing pressure.

Seemed like a solid race, I was pretty tired when watching it thanks to a helluva previous night, but there was some good racing.
Well Gerinksi they are only human LOL if anything Rosberg has been the more steady and mistake free driver of the two.

But did cost him that one, great win for Lewis, and the Tifosi luck has run out. Alonso DNF and Kimi 9th. Ouch.
Pretty standard results, but nice to see Massa grab a podium.
