Yeah, I was really looking forward to Luz de Riada as well.  We're all really bummed about it.  The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the US embassy in Mexico.  I won't go into all the frustrating details, but while the State Department's problems were the final nail in the coffin, it was the embassy's authorities going out of their way to make things as difficult for LdR as possible that was ultimately responsible.

BTW, by accident LdR wasn't removed from the band list at the bottom of the post, and the forum won't allow me to edit the post, so I can't remove it.

ProgDay 2014 Preshow!

ProgDay is pleased to announce the performance of three great acts at the ProgDay 2014 Preshow at Local 506 on Friday night.

TRIPLICITY:

Consisting of long-established musicians from the Triangle music scene, FRANK ALEXANDER (bass), BONGO JOHN METCALF (percussion), and YONTZ SUCRE (guitar) are TRIPLICITY.  Mixing fusion and progressive rock, the band offers a genre-defying instrumental collaboration emphasizing experimentation, polyrhythm, melodicism, and the vibe of a raging rock show.

THE MPS PROJECT:

Led by MICHAEL PELZ-SHERMAN, THE MPS PROJECT is a group of veteran musicians dedicated to creating original, progressive jazz. Their music explores the intersections of jazz, progressive rock, and 70's-style fusion in the tradition of RETURN TO FOREVER and WEATHER REPORT.

JONN BUZBY (Land Of Chocolate, Damn Fine Coffee, Finneus Gauge):

JONN BUZBY will be known to many ProgDay attendees through his bands LAND OF CHOCOLATE, DAMN FINE COFFEE, and FINNEUS GAUGE. John will be doing a solo performance featuring both new material and old favorites.
