Hey everyone coming from Tampa, Fl. I am 25, married, and in school for System Administration.
So I am basically a prog newbie, with that said I really really enjoy what I have heard so far. I have listened to all the bands that are kind of well known like Rush, Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, The Mars Volta, and Into Eternity.
I have like a few math rock groups(Not sure if this falls under prog rock but it sure sounds like it is influenced by it) like Battles and 65DaysOfStatic.

With all that said I would really like to get to know this genre of music better and expand my listening library. So feel free to recommend me some stuff or point me in the right direction to start hearing to good music.

Thanks! and nice to meet you all.

Florida is a great place. All that good oldschool death metal.

You will find a lot of math rock here. You will find everything in it's best here.

Welcome!

Thanks Votoms(Glad to see a fellow mecha fan), and yeah Florida has a ton of great death metal bands that hail from Tampa. Not to mention some other great metal bands like Kamelot and Iced Earth. At work I actually met the guitarist from Deicide's, mom. Not sure how cool that is in actuality but I thought it was really cool. She seemed like such a nice and normal lady too.

Welcome!  So many genres of prog rock to discover that I never knew of until coming here to this site.
I recently picked one or two of each genre's (that was unfamiliar to me) top rated albums to listen to.  That led to more stuff and so on and so on.  Be prepared to empty your wallet on music...LOL
