Topic: Lizard Or Discipline? Posted: January 16 2014 at 15:58 |
Hi, 2 very musically different King Crimson albums, both around a 4.1 rating on PA. Lizard: Possibly the most jazz influenced KC album, with a unique personnel as to any others (Haskell, Tippett, etc.) The first album with an "epic"; the title track at 23 minutes long, and a step onwards from the more psychedelic influenced first 2 albums.
Discipline: A whole new approach and line-up to King Crimson, contributed to by Belew and Levin introducing more musical techniques (e.g. polyrhythm) with a sort of post-punk/emerging 80s sound
So which is your favourite? (Personally mine is Lizard)

Dig me...But don't...Bury me I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

A slight preference for Lizard, I guess. Mainly for "Prince Rupert Awakes / Bolero".

Discipline, the one with a good number of great tracks, beats Lizard, the one with a couple of messy tracks.

Discipline. I love Lizard but don't really like Side B. Discipline was a new and exciting direction for KC and I love me some Adrian Belew!!

Discipline. Not sure I've ever really "gotten" Lizard.

Again, the instigator of this thread knows how to dick with people - I will, rather reluctantly, vote for 'Lizard', mainly for the fact it sounds more 'organic'. Both rate as 5* albums in my books.

Definitly Discipline. Belew and Levin do some wicked stuff on that.
