Topic: Big Big Train English Electric 1 & 2 & EP Posted: April 20 2014 at 07:07 |
Bought EE part I on LP last year and it's highly enjoyable indeed. Then earlier this year got the 2nd part and I just can't get enough of it. Really smashes the first one for me. And the vinyl edition incorporates a selection of tracks from the recent EP, which really fit album proper. So many knockout moments, with a massive bow to 'The Lovers'. Their way with vocal arrangements and melodies, instrumentation (not to mention Greg Spawnton's superbly toned Rickenbacker bass). Really becoming a top album for me.

So I ended up making a Full Power album out of my files, and it is a good listen too. I find it all to be good music.

No vote here. In fact I don't have any preference here. I could listen it any way it is. If it'sFloyd's The Wall or something similar this question is the right one. Or maybe if it's record I listen for a long time... Nothing is true here.

Great great great. I already invested in EE 1 & 2 and now I have to get the dad gummed EP to complete the set.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I bought Part One and Part Two as seperate CD's then downloaded the ep. I never listen to them together although its a clever wheeze by the band to try and sell the same thing twice by repackaging it all.

I only have English Electric Full Power. So that's the one I listen to.

I do not understand why the track listing changed. A track from part 2 is on CD1 of the Full Power. I just decided to create my own Full Power to put on my phone.

I bought the two albums when they were released, and I just recently bought the EP. I think my brain is stuck on how they were released as albums.

I go with the first option, but when I'm in the right mood I might switch to the Full Power format. Anyway, I prefer to listen to parts 1 and 2 in the original format because this sequence is perfect: part 2 starting with a piano-oriented version of the Summoned by Bells-finale, many musical themes of the previous songs converging in The Permanent Way and then Curator of Butterflies as a closer.

I do not know if I can ever remember an album being released in 3 pieces before, then re released as one full album. There have been part one and part two releases before. What are your thoughts on this as a future format for prog?
