I want to suggest a very good and variable guitarist Glen Drover (Eidolon, Megadeth). He released on Magna Carta debut album Metalusion (2011) and it is a full of progressive metal with jazz-rock/fusion influences.

Added to progfreak by Time_Signature three years ago as 'Instrumental Prog Metal': http://progfreak.com/Glen-Drover-138703.html, but no evaluation has ever been carried out, it seems.
 
Sounds pretty decent stuff to me - has a good chance, I would have thought.  Thumbs Up
