Musically, this is one of the best albums ever but the lyrics are way below Genesis' normal standard. It feels as if they are trying too hard to do what they achieved brilliantly on Foxtrot. The references to Tiresias and "Undinal songs" are very forced, "Bob the Knob" and Lawnmowers don't quite work either.
My vote goes to After the Ordeal |

Epping Forest definitely. Its lyrics are amusing and vivid.

Firth of Fifth seems quite meaningless to me - what are "undinal songs" anyway? Epping Forest is quite amusing, I'm going to be different and go for Aisle of Plenty for its puns on UK supermarkets, which I suspect may fall on some deaf ears nowadays,

Well being a fan for a long time...some books (I have Book of revelations, The book of Genesis and others), interviews, magazines, dvds, etc, and of course internet. By the way, about the lyrics a big part you can find here http://cyberreviews.skwc.com/gendis.pdf

Cinema Show has the best non-Gabriel lyric in all of Genesis. These 3 lines are sublime.
Once a Man, like the Sea I raged Once a Woman, like the Earth I gave But if there is in fact, more Earth than Sea

There's a fat old lady outside the saloon; laying out the credit cards she plays Fortune. The deck is uneven right from the start; and all of their hands are playing apart.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light. Through the skies, his white horse flies. To find a land beyond the night. |

The Cinema Show, with The Battle of Epping Forest as a good second.

Ah, close call between Dancing with the Moonlit Knight and Cinema Show, but the former gets it by a hair. I prefer the latter musically, but both are superb in all aspects!
