"Over the Earth is a progressive rock band founded in 2010 near Paris. A band of four, Over the Earth released its first EP "Invisible Visible Magic" in 2012: it has some folk, progressive and stoner rock elements to it. The quartet sounds both retro and contemporary, and the songs show a tortuous structure and focus on the instruments."

released 03 February 2014
Artworks: Brian Dixon (www.briandixon.ca)
Recording and Mixing: Jonathan Attard studios Poptones (www.jcversari.com / poptones-studio.html)
Mastering: CLIMAX mastering (www.climax-mastering.com)

released 16 August 2012
First demo Over The Earth, recorded and mixed by Julien Gottebroze and Sébastien Husson Met'Assos studios in August 2012

Hello all of you prog fans,

Svetonio was nice enough to suggest our band for entry in this massive database, and we at Over The Earth were all very flattered.

So as said above, we are a classic band of four (two guitars, bass, drums, lead singer + backing vocals), with an added taste for old keyboards: mainly Mellotron and Moog, but also at times Rhodes... whatever we feel like for a given song, really.

As for our influences, they are many. As Svetonio rightly pointed out, what we do may be called "crossover prog", and that's because we all hail from very different musical backgrounds. To name a few of the bands that we love: prog bands (The Mars Volta, Anekdoten, Radiohead, Mahavishnu Orchestra); heavier bands (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Thee Oh Sees!); more folk/experimental bands (Fleet Foxes, Storm Corrosion) and some more obscure references (for instance, fellow Parisians We Insist!; they've been called "white jazz", but I don't really know what that's supposed to mean...)

To be clear, these are bands we love, and as such they are influences; however, they may be very remote ones, and thus hardly noticeable, but they did shape our sound. If you are curious and want to listen how it all adds up to our music, follow one of the links above! Or visit our Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Youtube or Facebook pages.

Thanks again for having us here, and congratulations on the amount of work being done here. It's amazing!

Cheers,
Clement, drummer for Over The Earth

Wow thanks!

Are we supposed to edit the page on progfreaks ? Because it says we don't have an EP out yet, when we do!

You people are reactive.

Nope. Just arm yourself with a patience, sit back and watch how the Crossover Prog Team are voting on that Progfreak page.
Je vous souhaite bonne chance! Thumbs Up

Cleared about two months ago. If Mister 'Over The Earth', or anyone else, wants to post a bio here that might get them added too!  Embarrassed
