An initial vote goes to Trespass.

The remix remasters are absolute heaven. Now that they had the time and facilities the job was finally completed. Tony Banks sat in on all remix / remaster sessions ensuring the proviso that the original sound character not be altered but the details previously hidden can be allowed to emerge. Amazing to think that an album such as Nursery Cryme would be unleashed on the public by a record company (their manager's own...) when the quality was not up to what they wanted - nor really what a consumer can and should expect.

Voted for Nursery Cryme but  both are essential...

Trespass indicates that Genesis were improving rapidly after a false start.
Nursery Cryme marks the beginning of their masterpiece era.

Both are some of their best, but I have an odd affection for Trespass

It's almost evens for me. I enjoy both equally, but I'll give the vote to NC as it has The Musical Box and Seven Stones..
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Trespass easy. All pretty strong compositions with a good recording. Nursery is a mixed bag with a pretty poor recording. New lineups rarely produce strong albums first up and that was the case with the 3 star nursery with a new drummer and guitarist on board

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Nursery Cryme. Trespass is fine but I always consider it as a transition between first (From Genesis To Revelation) and second (Nursery Cryme) periods. Although sound and songwriting is on Trespass nearer to second period, only on Nursery Cryme their full power emerged (with Hackett and Collins). No contest here (for me of course). Musical Box is among their 5 best songs they did, so if only for this one, the winner have to be NC.

No vote. Genesis Live has the better versions of all the good stuff from both albums.

True.

I would rate Trespass as a 7 or 8 out of 10. For me Nursery Cryme is a 10 all the way, I prefer it to Foxtrot. Yes,even with the dodgy drum sound.

Nursery Cryme, although both are fantastic, better than SEBTP and Foxtrot.

I kind of like the moods and atmospheres of Trespass, though both are great albums.
