two artist who are among the closest, on the verge progressive or art rock artist/bands, who is in the cross section fo non-prog bands, but touches it. Yet ambitios musicians, who push certian bounderies and defines a decade,

One shouldn't base his or her opinion regarding EJ's "prog rock" creds without being familiar with his back catalog- and not just the hits.

If you want to stick with just the 70s, here are some things to check out that definitely have prog rock leanings:

The King Must Die (Elton John album)
Madman Across the Water (from album of same name)
Have Mercy on the Criminal (from Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player)
Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding (which someone else mentioned)
Almost anything from Blue Moves, EJ's underrated album from 1976 (some recommended tracks: One Horse Town, Crazy Water, Out of the Blue, The Wide-Eyed and Laughing)

Sixty Years On is a masterpiece, especially with the Elton, Dee and Nigel performance.

Have to go with Sir Elton.....his first 4 albums are all solid and I never cared for anything Toto , the dog from Oz, ever did.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.
