An album cannot truly be prog unless it was mastered on antique wire-spool equipment.  This makes Rings On the Awkward Shadow by Caroliner the only true prog album.

Prog rock bands are so lazy when they release an album with only 3 or 4 songs!

Although I can appreciate the profound influence that bands like U2 and the Rolling Stones had on the genre, my top prog epics would have to be:

20. Johnny Horton - Battle of New Orleans (the influence of which can be heard prominently on Yes' highly derivative "Gates of Delirium")
19. George Thorogood - I Drink Alone
18. Ted Nugent - Wang Dang Sweet Poontang
17. Barry Manilow - Copacabana
16. Van Halen - Why Can't This Be Love?
15. Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes - Maybelline
14. Eagles - Already Gone
13. Charlie Daniels Band - The South's Gonna Do It Again
12. AC/DC - TNT
11. Ted Nugent - Hey Baby
10. Molly Hatchet - Sweet Dixie
9. Molly Hatchet - Flirtin' With Disaster
8. Molly Hatchet - Beatin' The Odds
7. Molly Hatchet - Good Rockin'
6. Molly Hatchet - Whiskey Man
5. Molly Hatchet - Bounty Hunter
4. Molly Hatchet - Bloody Reunion
3. Molly Hatchet - Long Tall Sally
2. Molly Hatchet - Loss of Control
1. ELP - Love Beach

With a special shout out to the entirety of the Ramones' "Rocket To Russia".

Pink Floyd is a terrible introductory band for new prog listeners, what with their excessive, convoluted song structures, rapid-fire, breakneck tempos and heavy, distorted production.

A much better alternative is Gentle Giant, with their accessible vocals, dance-able rhythms and relatable lyrics.

The percussion on Magma's Mekanïk Destruktïẁ Kommandöh was actually played by Carl Orff (uncredited) who also contributed some lyrics in his native Bavarian dialect.

Probably the most outrageous statement about music ever was made by music critic Eduard Hanslick, who said about Tchaikovsky's violin concerto: "It gives you the idea that there is music that you can hear stinking".
