Don't you think it's time to remove Google from our search engines?

When a government is using censorship, no matter for which purpose, it is always a bad sign. I find Brokenshire's comment that government wants the right to remove content "that may not be illegal but certainly is unsavoury and may not be the sort of material that people would want to read or receive" extremely repulsive. The government has no right whatever to decide what people would want to read or receive.

That is, however, not a reason to get id of Google. It is every reason for the British people to get rid of their government though. Unfortunately there is no good replacement in  sight.

Interesting article on the BBC web site

"According the the agency, Drowned in Sound is not the only website which has had similar requests and that it only started happening recently."

Quote The new powers are supposedly intended to help the government combat the promotion of extremist videos promoting terrorism. Furthermore, the super-flagger status will enable security officials to flag swathes of videos, rather than identifying them one-by-one.

Oh yeah, I can't possibly see that going wrong in anyway. Ermm

I was under the impression that google is paying for search website rights to P.A.? In this case to be honest, P.A. could make this money to good use, I cannot dismiss this, to run a website like this costs money. However I think that it would be great if censored pics on google search, by clicking on them once you come to the site and click on them (album covers i.e. Album cover for Roxy Music’s “Country Life” (they are fully clothed to be honest) i.e. or Bitches Brew from Miles Davis just to name a few, one can see the original none PG version, thus see the original artwork because this to me is art, music is art and so are their album covers/artwork.

I don't know what the big fuss is about. They want to find and erase provocative terrorist material? Fine. Who's going to suffer?

Dayvenkirq, this is true! I wholly agree with you! I think we have our priorities and the perception of morals completely twisted. xxxxx This pic a example but on the softer side, however gore, blood, pain and suffering is broadcasted is most acceptable, none censored in the news, this is sick really.

Unfortunately we live in an era that nudity (by no means even close to not pornography) is censored, war with images of people suffering inc. dead toddlers, body parts blown to pieces are perceived ok and accepted to broadcast as if it is just a matter of fact! News can help to change peoples views and shift opinions this yes absolutely, but lately it has been taken as a matter of fact, this to me is so sad and I really feel terrible, I don't know how other people feel but I feel terrible when I see/hear this. Meanwhile showing some skin should be censored? Common people! Really????!!!!

It´s probably because I was brought up in a liberal country like Denmark with parents who would educate me but not censor Things, that I´m completely cool with both gore (not that I enjoy seing real pics of body parts and dead people) and nudity. If you don´t like it just don´t Watch it. And if you have children, educate them and tell them about such Things existing. Then they won´t have a giant shock when they see them. Because see them they will!

Good point there, I do agree with you too, Umur. What I meant is that I see no harm, there's nothing sad or gore about nudity, can't understand why it should be censored, this should not be an issue, in comparison it seems to be more censored compared to violence. I understand what you mean and I agree, we should let us as individuals decide for ourselves what we can or should see, thus not determined by others.

We like to think that we live in a (western) world free of censorship but I'm afraid that some sort of censorship is constantly being done in the mass media, the factual powers decide what we see and what we don't and the interpretation which should be made of the facts. Of course no-one will stop you from making a blog to show or discuss alternative versions of reality (as long as you do not break the law) but this will reach only a few people, in the meantime all the rest of the population is being guided and manipulated.
