Hounds of Love is like 2112 - only half a concept album.
Stevie Wonder - really?

Wasn't even considering that part of it. You might check the other thread on Jon Anderson and Transatlantic for what I wrote.

We're talking about concept albums by Progressive Rock groups remember, which divorced from the live performance realm, are a fusion of textual and musical ingredients.

Which is what I have been discussing all along. But a set of songs, does not necessarily create a concept. Same thing for 32 pieces of music by that canadian composer, if you have never seen the film! There is a "common denominator" but taking it beyond that is pushing it! So that guy is a composer! You can accept that, but calling it a "concept" only fits as far as the PERSON goes, not anything else, that you and I can discern properly.

They would still be considered pompous and pretentious by the PA folks! Because it ain't this or that! Ohhh, and all that filler in between the riffs!!!!! Ohhhh my gawwwwwdddddd!!!

I recommend it, and one day you are gonna say ... wow ... all that stuff is like the best history book there is! You just don't see how "music" and any other art, is the same thing!
I treat it all like an art. I respect concepts more than most people. But when a half baked band calls some stuff "concept", it's like going from grade 4 to grade 5 in music appreciation, and has nothing to do with "concept".

The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. The story might be hard to piece together but once you have done that you have a fantastic album, both musically and lyrically.

Nope, although it could, I suppose, be argued that Anderson's entire career has been one long concept, revolving around peace, love, the Sun as our guiding light, and there is a better way, man.

Many of these have been listed by others, so that means we are in agreement here on what is good.

^ A Midsummer's Night Dream - Steve HackettThanks for reminding me of that masterpiece. And i think Steve Hackett's Metamorpheus could also be included as another stunning conceptual album

Spirit- 12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus.....as Sheavy put it in his review of June 2011
"This is the only album that I have ever heard where ever single some (song) just goes together absolutely perfectly and they just work and fit together perfectly, but with nothing at all to really tie them all together, they just go together, it is like magic......The concept album without a concept."
