I may be alone on this, but I have seen them perform enough of their classic material many times and would really like to see a show dedicated to the new material even if it does not stack up to the old. Looking forward to the new album.

Yes, I agree. I would ONLY see them again if they played their new album in its entirety.

I'll beg to differ. I would ONLY see them if Jon Anderson were back in the band. These forgeries of the past several years only cheapen the band's legacy. The current "Yes" is a dollar store knockoff compared to the band I love so dearly.

Of course, they should play new material (Talk, for example)

Of course, Yes would be better with Jon Anderson.

Of course, some of us have heard them so much they got bored of them.

So what ? Can't wait for their new album ! And for the younger people like me, seeing Yes play their classic songs live is an incredible opportunity !

Hope they'll come to Belgium.

Surely nothing measures up to classic Yes with Jon A - however, I fully embrace any singer the band happens to choose, the core sound of Yes still remains intact for me. Loved Fly From Here, love Perilous, can't be a lacklustre effort they're cooking up......

I have loved Yes and their music has been powerful in my life---for me Yes is the Fragile, Tales and Relayer line-ups--but time passes and it is what it is--I don't go to every concert anymore---but when I do, I pay to see Howe (still amazing live) Squire and White---none of the singer replacements have been satisfying to me as they are not Jon and don't think they will ever satisfy me---Downes on keys is acceptable but not Rick or Patrick---I'm looking forward to new album but heard there is lot's of singing and not a lot of instrumental parts---which is the opposite of what I wanted lol---The 3 originals did some hot instrumental in their day--opening of Silent Wings is an example---and was hoping for more of that---not sure why they don't do it.Ermm

Well, this new Jon clone has been a good addition to the band me thinks.

So I hope that leads to a, at least, good new album.

PS: You guys saying that you're tired of seeing Yes are so lucky!! Here in Costa Rica Yes only came once...like 12 years ago :(

I quite enjoy Fly From Here, so I have nothing against new material. I want to here new material, both at home and live. But at my age, with my work and other responsibilities, it takes a lot of effort to get to a show, especially if I have to take a whole weekend to do it. It is more the time than money. In this case, I want to see the set list before I commit to a show (just the opposite from when I saw Transatlantic who I had never seen before - check out my review for details).

they are not going to play yes west stuff like Talk which I find so overrated---Squire said in a recent interview that Howe has no interest in playing rabin guitar parts and he (squire) is not going to push the issue. I think the issue is Howe is so original in his playing he can't bring himself to play rock hero type riffs. Which Howe can do, like opening chords of Heat of the Moment--but even that sounds original and cool and not typical.

There is quite an interesting dynamic going on, between Yes & their new album, and Jon Anderson's new band in formation (with Jean Luc Ponty, Mike Lewis, Jordan Rudess etc.)

I've not been in favor of the Anderson-less Yes, but if the new CD is good, we all win.  Billy Sherwood is coming in to help.  I'd enjoy seeing the old guys retire, and having new guys like Davison and Sherwood take their places in a band that continues the tradition.

However, I'm saving concert dollars for Jon's band until I hear the new material.  I don't really want to sully my memories of seeing Yes (CTTE, 1972 show, Relayer several times etc.).

Well said and Talk is a fantastic album. The fact that Yes have moved on from JA is great. Fly From Here was an excellent album so a new one with Jon Davison will be eagerly anticipated.

There are a few members of North America on PA who have been spoilt and burnt out on Yes. They do not know how lucky they have had it, some of them!

with all due respect--couldn't disagree with you more--sherwood has never done anything exceptional for Yes music--and is only mixing some of the vocals---I think they use him as he has a studio and works cheap lol---I will reserve my opinion on davidson when I hear new album--sadly I doubt I will be blown away by him either--Yes music has only been extra ordinary when 5 great musicians--the best of the best---got together and played their heart out---there have been many second rate guys in Yes which made the music less than extra ordinary---the CTTE, Tales and Relayer line-ups being the exceptions---I want anderson in the band --but know that will not happen--but when one or more of the remaining 3 classic line up guys retire-- I think it is time for all good things to come to an end--a further watering down of Yes with second rate talent would be real travesty IMO--the great music is just too great for second rate.

I had thought Howe had been softening his stance about not playing Rabin era Yes songs... though it might be only up to the point of playing their greatest hit ("Owner of a Lonely Heart", of course). Though, as a matter they might just as well play something from Asia as a special treat... instead of playin "Owner of a Lonely Heart", they could play "Heat of the Moment" (though I actually would rather hear "Lonely Heart" in a concert), or even better (for me), "Only time will tell" (which I certainly would like to hear live). About "Talk", yeah, I guess the album is not really so good... but I do love "Endless Dream", and if they would play that one, it would be a real I would really love to hear it.

Yeah, I'm really interested in both projects too (though a bit disapointed that the Anderson, Wakeman, Rabin project is ever less likely to ever come to be - though actually this new Anderson project may be even more interesting). About the Anderson-less Yes, I've been interested enough because that's been the only chances I've had to hear them live since I got to know about them (checking dates, I think I started getting interested in them at about the time they were on their last world tour with Anderson and Wakeman... I guess I just missed the chance to hear them with such a line-up by a hair). Plus, "Fly from Here" was nice enough, and the main pieces from the "suite" are really beautiful (as well as the closer), and I feel Benoit really sounded very good on the album (as opposed to trying to hit Anderson's notes live). I was not so very impressed with Davison when I heard him live (and even less so with Downes), but I feel that he is a much better fit for the band (he has some kind of spiritual vibe on the vein of Anderson, which Benoit lacked), and I hope listening his own songs with Yes will be a better experience too.
About Sherwood, I would be more concerned than excited... whatever he has done has left me kind of underwhelmed (except for the song "The more we Live, let go", which I understand he wrote, even if he might not have played on it). And one thing that rather tires me from his songs are the backing vocal arrangements... so I hope he doesn't have so much input on the way they will end up sounding.
And about a new Yes folloing the retirement of the last 70's guys, I would follow the events with interest. Davison would be great as a new generation guy, as for keyboards, I still believe Oliver should have stayed on the band, I feel he was a better player than Downes, and would be a better fit for the new blood too. Sherwood, once again, may actually be very good for the bass (I heard a few songs from Circa on Youtube a while ago, and actually liked his bass playing a lot), but would be somewhat concerned about his writing input to the band (as well as his vocal arrangements). Plus I don't know how good Davison himself may be on bass (for I understand he is a bass player himself too). However, if they were ever to get some new guys into the band, they should make sure to get really the best of the best available if they want to really keep up to the Yes legacy (which very often Yes themselves haven't been able to do so far). And not only the best players, it would be even more important to get some new genious fresh songwriter(s).
