For sale: One used left-handed relief pitcher.  Will trade Coke for coke!!!

Tigers 7 Orioles 6.  Clap  I hate games that you win but are left pissed off afterwards because the bullpen made a game far more closer than it should have been.

Had a feeling this season might be a little rocky, but the Reds have the worst record in baseball.

Oh well, with all the 1-run games they play, something's gotta give.

Can't say hope was terribly high for the Yanks, and they still aren't but things have been fun for right now at least!
Perhaps the biggest ? was Tanaka, but he now has had 8 or + strikeouts in his first 3 games, including today's 8 inning, 2 hit, no run, 10K effort.
He's proven he can battle and adapt. Waaaay too early to be definitive, but this is as great a start as we could've hoped for.

Yangervis Solarte has become a folk hero, going from guy no one has ever heard of with no chance to make the team, to heh guy with cool name, to perhaps the best offensive player thus far!

Major worry about CC though, Kuroda appears to be on the downslide for good, and Nova is still annoyingly inconsistent however.

The view from my seats Friday night. I sat in my boss' seats behind home plate. The view was pretty bad...Angels led 11 to 1 at one point. And it was very cold. 47 degrees F and dropping with a 10 MPH wind in the face most of the night.

I wish the Buccos would have a solution when it comes to the BrewCrew.

Or Johnny Cueto in the regular season Tongue

Reds catchers are batting a combined .420+ so far. That part of the lineup has been such a vacancy in the offense over the years, it's almost unfathomable that this is happening.

Baseball is a weird game lol
Apparently it's widely known and accepted that pretty much all pitchers use pine tar/other illegal substances, including the Red Sox.
Apparently most don't even really care about it, as long as it's subtle. So Pineda is in hot water basically because he's stupid and/or arrogant enough to have it in the open.

Since it's not enforced, and in fact umps have stated they are "judges" not "policemen" just change the damn rule??
And Pineda, keep it in your glove/hat/belt and not all over your skinLOL

Yeah. You'd think someone in the dugout would have pulled him aside and mentioned a subtler way for him to conceal it. Because I really don't have much of a problem with it. Pine tar doesn't really affect or improve a pitcher's performance anyway. All it does is make it easier for him to grip the ball.

Most importantly though, it's stories like this that make me glad I don't watch the load of crock that is ESPN anymore. Because you know they're going to mention this 500,000 times between now and his next start.

Also more importantly, my Reds will be back to .500 if we can take 3 of 4 from the Buccos today. Hoping for a comeback game from Cingrani today.

I've been saying since about halfway through last year that Latos is the ace of the team. I went and looked up some stats on Fangraphs and I was dead wrong. Cueto has been mindblowingly good so far this year. His xFIP is out of this world. To be fair, it's a fairly small sample size and he's already pitched 2 complete games. But if this continues, I could see him gunning for the NL Cy Young.

Also, (and again, still a small sample size so far) Mesoraco is currently sitting at #5 in the league in terms of WAR. I was worried about the Reds this season, mostly because of needing another big bat outside of Votto and Bruce and all the injuries they have right now. But so far, Meso has stepped it up big time.

Now all Pryce has to do is move Votto up to the #1 spot and Meso up to the #5 spot and I'll be completely satisfied for now. Tongue

Edit: In order for that NL Cy Young wet dream of mine to come true though, something major needs to happen to Greinke. As in, "a long stint on the DL" major. LOL

One other thing I forgot to mention. The last few nights at PNC, I've heard the crowd (all 25 of them) start doing the annoying "wooooo" chant that's become so popular at GABP. Can we give that horrible cheer to Buccos fans and tell them to keep it?

Belated congrats to Albert Pujols on his 499th and 500th HR, in the same game!
Cool to see someone not hit the 499 wall. Weird how little we've heard about him, for so long he was IMO one of the best, if not best, player in the game. Really like the guy, glad he's in the clubClap

Also, according to a stats site his strikeout percentage so far this year is back to his 2001-2010 numbers. 9 HRs so far, maybe a resurgence??

I'm starting to believe that Wainwright is the second coming of Mike Scott. Or that the Buccos can't hit at all.

Battle of first place teams turned out really nice for us Tiger fans with a 3 game sweep of the O's in Baltimore.

Was fun while it lasted but we all feared the eventual unwraveling....and it seems to be upon us yankee fans.
Thank god for Tanaka! Still without loss after his complete game shutout. Everything just goes well with him on the mound as well, the team must feed off it.

Pretty much we just look forward to every 5th day for Tanaka and ignore the restLOL
Edit: Oh! And of course Yangervis Solarte, who went from "4th on the minor league list" to one of the better hitters in the entire league right now.
