Things have gotten so bad in the Detroit bullpen, the Tigers have recalled Red Hot Chili Peppers' drummer Chad Smith from Double A.  He should fit right in with the rest of the bullpen whose theme song this year is "Give It Away Now".

LOL

You'll get used to it, like we did with our Blu-Jays

Seems like the whole league is getting beat up by the injury bug, and reaching NFL like levels of equality. Will make for exciting races I'm sure.

Tanaka continues to be a beast! All us Yank fans were cautiously optimistic about him, but damn who could've expected this? 11-1, gives depth, efficiency, lots of strikeouts and few walks. More so has a real mental toughness and fight to him. Given the inconsistent and suspect pitching staff we have, he's our current MVP.

Can't say hopes remain much higher than a slightly above .500 season, but not a bad start to rebuilding.

The Red's-Blue Jays game tonight could not have been more ugly. After taking an 8-0 lead, we ultimately lost to the Jays 14-9 Ouch That one hurts.

Tigers win with a walk-off grand slam. The ultimate of walk-offs. Down 3 runs, grand slam gives them a 1-run win.

After losing 2 out of 3 to the last place Houston Astros, the Tigers sweep the Oakland Athletics, the best team in baseball.  Up next, the last place in the East Tampa Rays.  Any guesses on how this series goes?

I guess no surprises there.  The Tigers lose 3 out of 4 to the Rays and aside from the win on Thursday they looked pretty horrible.

Don't get too cynical about this, a baseball year= you win 62 and you loose 62, the 32 games remaining are impossible to predict the outcome. Tigers are in a weak division, so they have a good chance to be in the playoffs, but i don't think they have it all to win the world series.

After a 14 to 5 shellacking of the Dodgers (after falling behind 5 to 0 in the top of the 1st) the Tigers have followed up by taking a 14 to 2 lead over the 2nd Place Kansas City Royals. Go figure

^^ Your analysis and your  words are just too funny LOL. My halos have been on fire. They are opening a can on Texas at the moment with Calhoun just a HR shy of the cycle. Second best record in the game and they are doing it rather quietly Wink

I guess there aren't enough Yankees fans around here to freak out over tanaka's injury.

Ha! You just beat me to it...

Needless to say Yankee nation is collectively drinking themselves to oblivion.
In the short run it could be nothing....he misses some time (it's awful) but he returns and is back to being a beast. If he has to miss the rest of the year, well...we're barely managing .500 anyway, might as well just call it quits without Tanaka.

I've been saying this for years: I actually can't wait for the legacy days to be over, it's really held us back. Every year, we really do have potentially good players, but always sell them away for a quick bang because "it's what the Yankees do". I'm sick of win now at any cost, that wasn't how the legacy teams were even built.
In a way, I hope this season hits the skids and we DON'T give away of our good players, and start building up a real team. But, there's a mountain of $$ behind the yankees: TV ratings, investors, who knows how many businesses, all of which need to say non stop winning.  + the mega contracts, the dynasty has really screwed the Yanks in the long run.

Speaking of lung run, back to Tanaka, all I can do is pray to any divine being he comes back in is fine. The alternatives I can't even type without feeling sick, so I won'tLOL

Initial reports are out about 6 weeks due to a partial ligament tear in his right elbow. But the possibility of Tommy John surgery is still on the table.

And good point about the oblivion...maybe more beers being poured in the Bronx on the initial report I imagine.

I saw this Metallica commercial last night during the home run Derby and got a chuckle out of it.  http://www.spin.com/articles/metallica-sportscenter-promo-advertisement-video/?utm_source=spinfacebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spinfacebook

Wow!  Tigers trade for David Price.  That came pretty much out of nowhere.  They are only saying Austin Jackson and Drew Smyly at the moment, and that it involved Seattle.  Curious to hear how many minor leaguers are included.

The Tigers' vaunted offense scored 5 runs in 4 games against the Yankees.  That is just plain embarrassing.  It would be one thing if they were facing Tanaka, Sabathia, Clemens, and Ford but three of the 4 Yankees' pitcher came off of the scrap heap during the year.
