I respect your opinion, Evolver. However, I think that it could be the easiest way to carry out the perfect crime if to bump off some poet who wrote about death and who just left a rehab center. Imagine if someone had killed Roger Daltrey few years since he wrote "I want to die before I get old" (yes, Daltrey actually wrote the lyrics to R&B track composed by Pete Townshend), and to fake it a crime to suicide. Although we know that Mr Daltrey, as a rough boy from the street aswell (unlike the others in The Who), was dealt with suspicious persons before he grabbed the microphone, how a private investigator could to convince the crowd of the unbelieving thomas - people who know  for "I want to die before I get old" the verse - if police already closed the case as a suicide act? How to convince the detectives to investigate again from the beginning? Maybe a lot of strong additional evidences not to be enough. Police is an important part of a goverment that the common people always tends to believe more to police (goverment) than to the private investigators and (or) to that investigative journalism - although police  can make a mistake, such as in Cobain case when the police did not do a forensic investigation at scene.

Nah, that was the guy who married Gwen Stefani.

The only 'rock star' death I found interesting was Brian Jones from the Stones. He was having remodeling and house work being done on his property and the story goes that several of the workers involved had shady connections to a crime gang and weren't completely  honest individuals. And apparently Jones had some arguments about this with the people involved....then he ends up dead.
Not saying he was murdered but of all the cases mentioned above his at least has some interesting aspects.

Obviously the work of the Masons.
Please pay a visit to my blog...The Dark Elf File...a slighty skewed journal of music reviews, literary comment, fan-fiction and interminable essays.

Now I know this is about rock starts, but if you really want an interesting (but stupid) music-related death, try french baroque composer Lully:

Lully died from gangrene, having struck his foot with his long conducting staff during a performance of his Te Deum to celebrate Louis XIV's recovery from surgery

Tad late?
I've been hearing about this since I was in early HS (going on 10+ years now!)

I love a good conspiracy, always makes for fun fiction...
Is it really so difficult/painful to accept the man who had depression and drug battles, plus the various sh*t that goes with becoming a huge rock star, committed suicide? And since these type things often come down to who you want to believe...haven't a good number of friends and family stated they believe he committed suicide?

Sadly, for many of the reasons just mentioned, it's not really a totally shocking event in his world.

Quote LOS ANGELES - A note discovered in the wallet of music legend Kurt Cobain at the time of his death, but kept secret until now, promises to add fuel to the pop culture fascination with Cobain and stoke further questions about what role his famously troubled personal life and marriage played in his demise.

When police arrived to find Cobain dead at his Seattle area home on April 8, 1994, from what the King County Medical Examiner would determine was a suicide, the note was taken from his wallet, logged into evidence days later in the Seattle Police Department (SPD) case file, and never made public.

Eldon "El Duce" Hoke, the late frontman of the punk band The Mentors, claimed to have been offered money by Courtney Love to kill Kurt Cobain. Then very shortly later he died in a train accident.

Not that I'm convinced, mind you, Hoke comes across as the kind of person who'd say that kind of stuff "for the lols". (especially if you've seen the Jerry Springer interview with his band)
