My album of 2014 thus far (perhaps tied with gazpacho)! Really good fusion of the opeth sound and retro ideas/instrumentation. Basically, this album keeps the cool retro sound but corrects the flaws of heritage, i.e it actually has melodies, warmth, and structure!

I picked this up last week and can't get it out of my head. Much superior to Heritage I think - it feels like the band have really committed and warmed to this style and the ideas behind it. Its a really great mixture of old and new ideas and styles. My only slight grumble is possibly the vocals - I think another vocalist could have been used to give a little contrast in places and maybe Mikael sounds like he is straining a little. Maybe.  Anyhow I will continue to enjoy this glorious product of his imagination and look forward to whatever comes next.
