I think it was their last really good album. Animate is among my favourite Rush songs.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Its a great hard pounding album....Great playing by the trio and even some dark themes. They have been playing Stick It Out live recently and that has been a treat.

Not my favorite but it has its moments.

Counterparts is outstanding! It really packed a wallop after the previous two albums, too.

I like it but it is closer to the hard rock genre than it is to prog , but nothing wrong with that.

Heavy album...Love Animate.......I'm a long time fan and the more recent of their albums I believe was a masterpiece is Snakes and Arrows. THe songs, the mix.......all of it! Clockwork Angels just doesn't do it for me like all the hype that's been generated around it.

To my taste Counterparts is an uneven album with some great guitar work by Alex Lifeson but less than stellar songs.  Animate and Stick It Out are two examples where I think the song just doesn't "work".  It's all a matter of people's personal preferences though...

I think it's a good return to form, I personally like Counterparts better than all the albums that came after it.

BTW does anybody know what are they saying in the first second of Alien Shore (before the music starts)? it seems everyone hears something different, I hear something in Hebrew Stern Smile

So Tom Hanks is Neil Peart's counterpart in the screen actor community.  Which brings us full circle to the thread topic. Lamp

Its a good album, not perfect but far from bad.  Animate, Stick it Out, Cut to the Chase, Nobody's Hero, Leave that thing alone and Cold Fire are my favorite tracks.

Whoever it was the mentioned the greatness of Snakes and Arrows, I agree 100%, I find that album really under-rated.

it's definitely better than Roll the Bones or Test For Echo, but it's still pretty weak by Rush's standards. Got a few very good songs, though
