Topic: Led Zeppelin Live Albums Posted: April 12 2014 at 22:02 |
I got a copy of HTWWW a couple of days ago. I think it's a fantastic album with great versions of many of their classics. The four of them were at the top of their game during these shows. Page himself writes in the liner notes "This is Led Zeppelin at it's best" and after listening to this 3 CDs set I must say I totally agree with him.
I still need to get a copy of TSRTS and BBC Sessions, so no vote from me.
Which one is your favourite?

The song does indeed remain the same.

^ Me too. Even the film. It got a lot of flack from people. Always did the trick for me.

Love the film; the music I mean, not the silly fantasy sequences (except of course in the balcony of a ratty theater sucking on a bottle of unknown origin and puffing on a joint of vague ingredients).

I've never really been impressed with any of these live Zeppelin albums, although I grew up with the Song Remains the Same so have always been partial to it.

I love that powerful energy, extended jams and medleys they put together on stage.

You've missed out Celebration Day (not that I'd rate it about any of the others, but it should at least be listed).

How The West Was One is one of the best sounding live album I've ever heard and the band are bang on form. Have to admit I'm not a massive Led Zep fan so I don't have the other two.

^ A few years ago I'd have gone for 'How The West Was Won' for certain, but then the remastered & extended version of 'Song Remains The Same' came out & unbelievably blew HTWWW out of the water. Both absolutely superb live albums, but the remastered version of SRTS? Wow!
