Anyone here have old prog 'zines lying around? I'm looking for an old copy of Strutter'zine (if you have issue 13 let me know please). And general talk about them.

Exactly what it says. A 'zine is a small magazine.

I have some Kate Bush Homegrounds from way back...that's about it. Another fun part of being a music fan back in the day...waiting for mags to arrive. Trading with friends. Pouring through the ads for rare stuff. Any current bands still messing around with fanzines?

Not sure about Denmark, but I do know that Sweden had a relatively well-circulated prog fanzine in the 1970s titled Musikens makt ("the power of music") remembered best for their hilariously negative reviews of Uriah Heep. Never read it, though, and I only know it from excerpts quoted in a book on the Danish metal scene's history I read last week.

Not exactly prog, but I've written a few zines. Two of my most recent ones include interviews with:
Nardwuar the Human Serviette, Michael Gira (Swans), Mike Watt, Eric Oblivian, Mike Watt (Minutemen, Stooges, etc), Red Dons, Dan Peters (Mudhoney), Boyd Devereaux (Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, etc), Scott Hedeen (Burnt Hickory Brewery), METZ, Joe Keithley (D.O.A.), The Chain Letters, John Darnielle (The Mountain Goats), etc. Zines are still pretty popular in the punk scene. Not sure about prog. |

Out of curiosity, what were the fanzines you wrote for called?

Ripple Rock #1 and Ripple Rock #2 - Kings of Punk, Hockey and Beer.
Both can be found here: http://ripplerockzine.bigcartel.com/ I also write articles for some Finnish zines with various topics ranging from arts and music to science. Edited by Dalezilla - April 17 2014 at 04:36 |

I've got a bunch of old issues of "The Amazing Pudding," a pretty good Pink Floyd fanzine. There was also a Yes magazine, curated by the Gottlieb brothers out on Long Island (NY).
