Not my favorite genre of music by a long shot (in fact my least favorite), nevertheless punk rock has had its few moments for me. Sid Vicious' portrayal of Sinatra's "My Way" has a certain charm to it, especially when Gary Oldman sings it. The music also as a different sort of free-spirited anarchic tone to it, at least when it isn't full of itself. I can't say it hasn't been good inspiration for bands like Nirvana, (for better or for worse).
Then on a different end of the spectrum we have hip hop, which I do enjoy. I especially enjoy 90s hip hop, which includes Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. With the unfortunate hip hop rivalry going on during this time, they sadly passed away. But they left quite a legacy, which still lasts today. Now-a-days we have less hip-hop about social justice, which again could be a good or bad thing. I argue that this was when hip-hop reached its prime (90s). And in fact, since many modern day rappers/R&B/hip-hop artists will say Shakur was an influence (some, like Lil' Wayne may actually claim to be the next Tupac).
Anyway, I figure these are the least popular forms of music on these forums (I could be wrong), so I bring them up. Anyone here partial to these genres?
