Topic: Swingers (Belgium) for Post Rock Posted: April 17 2014 at 03:13 |
Swingers play instrumental post-rock music influenced by the pioneers of the genre (Mogwai, Tortoise, Slint, Explosions In The Sky, …) but with their own sound and identity, fed by diverse other influences like noise rock, shoegaze music, spaghetti western soundtracks, math rock, ... Over time, the Swingers' style has refined, gaining efficacy. Yet, they have kept their debut's spontaneity. In 200...9, after having played numerous gigs in Belgium (touring alongside bands like Le Singe Blanc (fr), Casse-Brique (be), K-Branding (be), Monophone (be), ...), they finally recorded their first demo at the Caraibes studio (Brussels). The band has also been interviewed by diverse independent radios and has been invited to appear on a German compilation called "The Finest Noise". In 2011, "Backstage" on TeleMB, has devoted a show to Swingers. The release of the first album, recorded in 2013 at the Rubens Studio (Brussels), is planned for this summer. - https://www.facebook.com/swingersband?fref=ts Swingers play instrumental post-rock music influenced by the pioneers of the genre (Mogwai, Tortoise, Slint, Explosions In The Sky, …) but with their own sound and identity, fed by diverse other influences like noise rock, shoegaze music, spaghetti western soundtracks. ^ apologies Svetonio. It was just a joke (swingers is an expression for married people who are on the lookout for extra marital sex) I didn't mean to derail your thread as I ain't heard the band.

^ Yes I know that because Marshal Tito educated Yugoslav kids in late 1960s / 1970s with the 'zines like Чик (transl. "Chick"); these 'zines were full of naked women pictures and amazing erotic stories in so many 'genres', and it have been sold at newsstands at very low prices - due to education of the youth.

^ so was this band named as an ironic reaction to the prevailing disingenuous permissiveness? (Gotta say that no-one has ever referenced Tito in any repose to a thread before so i feel kinda honored)
