I'm sort of inquisitive as to the zeitgeist of the site at the moment!

Well I've already bought Dark Side 5 times now due to unhinged party behaviour, stealing folks and forgetfulness, but I'd still reach for it if the house was on fire and these two records were the only options.
I love the opening cut on Tales, but from there on it quickly goes downhill.

In my little book:

Dark Side of the moon: 4.84/5
Tales from Topographic Oceans: 2.63/5

DSotM is a well-wrought colourful masterpiece with everything falling in its right place whereas TfTO is some sort of symphonic Stonehenge composed of four megaliths with a high percentage of grey and a final track that goes nowhere. I could never get it anyway.

Nevertheless a good poll btw .

In this particuliar instance i'd reach for the Pink Floyd.

Neither. If I really wanted to listen to them again I would just stream them on the internet.

Tales is a more special album for me--but DSOTM is obviously a more perfect album --but still not my favorite Floyd album.

The first time I listened to Tales... I wanted to set it on fire myself.
Good album but not even close to Dark Side as popular is it is.

I love Dark Side...

But Tales is king.

I'd say Tales; I find it hard to imagine replacing Dark Side would be hard.

One is an album that will remain in the public consciousness for many, many decades to come.

The other is now only really discussed by prog heads.

I love Yes, but DSOTM wins this by a country mile.

I wouldn't reach for Tales even if I could save both. Much rather hear the crinkling of the burning artwork paper.
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.

Since I consider "Tales from Topographic Oceans" the worst thing Yes ever did the choice is easy, "Dark Side of the Moon".

Considering how much Tales cost me to buy back in the 70s the skinflint in me would want to save that, however since that can now be picked up on eBay for less than the price of a Lady Gagagagagagaga's CD whereas a copy of the 1st pressing of Dark Side that I have in my possession tips the scales at a ridiculous 250 quid it doesn't take Fiona Bruce and her antiques roadshow chums to work out which one I'll be rescuing.

However, should Fiona happen to be passing...
