I really like some Yes, but Tales From Topographic oceans is just meh.

Dark Side is a pretty complete album, though not Floyds' best, it still gets my vote.

Definitely Dark Side. Tales is one of my favorite Yes albums, but I honestly feel that Pink Floyd > Yes.

Can we get a few more votes for TOFU here? We don't want this to end up too unbalanced, this is a Prog site after all.
What?

This, and DSOTM is masterpiece.

Dark Side. It's fairly close, but I'd say the Floyd album has about a half star over Tales, at least for me. And am I the only one who thinks the last track on Tales is the true masterpiece of the album? Confused

Dark Side. I would throw TFTO in the fire because, as Rick Wakeman said about the album, "we padded it out and the padding is awful." Perhaps the padding would smother the fire.

I like both, but I like The Dark Side of the Moon a lot more.
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

I never cared much for Tales from Topographic Oceans (I'm still a hardcore Close To The Edge and Relayer fan). But this couldn't be a more apples and oranges comparison anyway, but, at the end of the day, Floyd's Dark Side is brilliant and an album that I'll always come back to at some point or another. I can't say the same for Tales.

I generally like Yes more than Floyd and I would take Tales with me. Letting Dark Side burn would give me incentive to buy a better remaster than the one I have.

DSOTM. Now if the Yes album was CTTE it would have been a different vote from me.

Lol--Wakeman--a man of excess talking padding. The only real padding on Tales is on side 2---his keyboard breaks are a little ---well padded sounding. And yes side 4 has sections which there is too much singing and words and sounds padded---but side 1 and 3 are pretty well organized symphonic prog---and it does have some amazing guitar parts from Howe and one of wakemans best keyboard solo's on side 1---but on side 4 wakeman's ritual part is not as good as moraz's live version---guess rick just wasn't into it----most of the other guys were not--which is why anderson-howe gave side 2 to rick,  and 4 to chris and alan---to involve them more. But this album you either get or don't--not only the music but the story and lyrics.
