Thumbs UpEndless Enigma has so many typical prog ingredients. Someone once described it a 'hymn'. Probably about right!

KE9 - Man v machine and dystopian future. TICKBig smile

'Hymn'? Damn right Richard! And the more I listen to them the more I love them!  And unfortunately I'm gonna have to buy via Intenet the eagerly awaited album Keith Emerson - Three Fates Project, don't find it in the CD stores, and sadly neither the rest of his discography... Believe it or not I never bought anything by means of Internet, there are still many "cheatings" in my country, go figure that...

Man v machine and dystopian future - 30 years ago they were absolutely right about what is happening today... What do you mean by TICK btw?

TICK is just ticking the box that says ''prog''. A lot of prog uses those themes.

Three Fates Project is excellent stuff. Hope you can manage to get it.

Cool, richardh. Cool I haven't heard anything from Colours. My Eloy journey has just begun as I have 11 albums on the way. Thumbs Up

Yes, that's a cool piece. Lots of atmospheric keyboards and effects. Good stuff.

He seems serious enough (more so than the rather bland two choices you coughed up as an alternative).

Yeah. Bland. The former was always an excuse to visit the snack bar during a Yes show, and the latter was Lifeson at his most over overindulgent which detracted from an otherwise fine album.

C'mon guys, this is silly. I don't like Dream Theater one bit but much of it certainly yells prog in my ears. Read the bloody thread title.

All of those are great examples. Tales from Topographic Oceans, Thick as A Brick, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway are immediate standouts to me.

I remember blasting Tales on the way to band practice a few years back. Nothing but long backroads through NH, and that record was perfect for that ride. I believe I got acquainted with that album at such time; I remember the first time Wakeman's synth came in on "The Revealing Science of God" right after the intro, and it was like a whole other level.  It's since become synonymous with journeying for me.

Screw white Knights I like RED KNIGHTS now.
I Had A Sheer Heart Attack when I listen to Freddy Mercury vocal blasts on Sheer Heart Attack. That guy can really bring down the hammer and the anvil on that one. Sheesh. ;)

Yeah, me too. The LAMB definitely jumps out at me a lot. Epitomized Prog listening.
Early Genesis in general. From 1971 to 1977 is ideal proggy examples to me as well.
