Hi there,Having passed through the 'n00b gauntlet' I would like to introduce you to my progressive rock project, As Follows. This is a NYC-based collaborative project not very unlike something like Ayreon, except that the material is co-written through jams I have with other musicians before I take those seeds and flesh full songs out of them.

You can check out the music here, BandCamp Page

My blog is here, where I write articles about the creative process and recording and mixing techniques mostly.

Facebook

I would love to get As Follows added to the Archives so I can submit the CD for review. Thanks for your time! :)

Good stuff! Thumbs Up Would have thought this would be a dead cert for the site somewhere...Not entirely sure which sub though...Some of it sounds Psych/Space oriented, some leans more towards Heavy Prog and other sections have a more straightforward structure which might fit better in Crossover. Basically I ain't got a clue where it might go, but I certainly believe it belongs here.

Thanks for posting - I enjoyed this music a lot. Cool

Incidentally, the facebook link in your post needs correcting - the current hyperlink actually points to the bandcamp page again.

Interesting sound, some nice melodies and long songs!

I am unsure about whether the recording quality would meet PA criteria
(note admission rules) but the sound of your songs tend to remind me Mike Oldfield et al. I think Crossover might be your best bet so suggest you edit the title to reflect where you are suggesting this to go, otherwise it might not be picked up.

And just three hours into the evaluation, you already have two 'yes' votes!  Shocked That must be some kind of a record! Approve

One more 'yes' and you're in!  Big smile  You can follow the evaluation here: http://progfreak.com/As-Follows-158910.html?path=pa/recentThumbs Up

Wow, thanks ... Exciting! If it gets in, should I submit a more formal biography? I don't have much to go with here aside from the music ... (which I guess is the point lol).

If you could post a formal bio here (or send it in a private message to kev rowland, the leader of the Crossover team), it would speed up your addition tremendously. I can't imagine that you would not now be approved, bearing in mind the speed at which you received your first two 'yes' votes.  Thumbs Up

As Follows Bio

AS FOLLOWS is the brain child of Ben Asaro, former founding member of the power-progressive bands Urshurak, Twilight Odyssey, and Phantom Isle and a veteran of the NYC live music scene.

As Follows was originally intended to be a side project to Phantom Isle but as the idea took shape it quickly became an important manifesto to the way Ben thought his brand of progressive music should be created. Instead of having a band with permanent members and a set sound, As Follows would be a collaborative project wherein basic riffs where jammed on with other musicians, the bits and pieces would grow and then be connected together into musical mosaics without a central theme or traditional verse/chorus structure.

Being a guitar player primarily, Ben also wanted to get the focus back onto extended guitar explorations and solos with less emphasis on cutting away material, instead keeping the ideas 'whole cloth' and improvised with room for expansion when played in a live setting.

The first release from As Follows was The Eye Of Fire And Fear. The music was written as a collaboration between Ben and ex-Phantom Isle drummer, Luigi Gennaro. After those initial jams were expanded upon and fully fleshed out, Ben arranged and played all of the instruments as well as handled the recording duties.

After the music was complete, Ben collaborated with singer/musician Gary Pickard and together they completed the lyrics based on Ben's idea of a concept piece based upon the early works of E. A. Poe.

The Eye Of Fire And Fear was completed 14 months after the first rehearsal and was released digitally in April 2014.

Ben is currently collaborating with guitarist David Falcone and drummer Michael Morales on the follow up release.

As Follows can be reached via Facebook at www.facebook.com/as.follows.9 or at asfollows.bandcamp.com. Ben's blog wherein he talks about the creative process and recording techniques can be followed at www.asfollowsmusic.com.

Still just the two yes 'votes'. They were exceedingly quick though -  these evaluations usually take a week or two in the normal course of events, and with some teams much much longer. It all depends on team members' commitments outside of PA....All are just volunteers here, with jobs, families etc that they have to take care of as a first priority, so we just have to let things run their course. It is only a matter of time before you will get your third vote, I'm sure...and with the bio you have kindly provided the addition should be fairly soon afterwards. Smile

Woohoo! Been away on business, and nothing beats the 1-2 combination of seeing this and the while-not-totally-in-love-with-I-certainly-didn't-hate-it review of the album in the new issue of Sound On Sound magazine (I quite frankly expected them to keel haul it!)

PM sent w photo links.

Thanks!
