The use of ashes is a band from the Netherland that have released almos all their albums on the tonefloat record label. I would say that they suit well the Krautrock genre, but at the same time psychadelic/space rock and even prog folk would describe them quite well. I tought you guys should give it a listen:
I really love that tune http://youtu.be/o3jefa73lqI other interesting stuff http://youtu.be/peiOGcfXe18 this is definitely Krautrock: http://youtu.be/hdULbiN_DLY http://theuseofashes.blogspot.com/ http://www.discogs.com/artist/232217-Use-Of-Ashes-The

I listened to these samples, and while I do find the live clip to be really interesting and close to our space rock sub, the others sound like pure folk rock to these ears.
Anyway, this is nowhere near enough material to base an evaluation on. Any chance you could provide some more tunes (preferably from their albums)?

Taken from a review of their first album 'The Castle Of Fair Welcome' on RYM: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/the_use_of_ashes/the_castle_of_fair_welcome/: Originally released on the band owned Rosebud label in 1988. For the first time on CD (remastered). This release marks the transition of the band “Mekanik Kommando” into “The Use of Ashes”, this album being a cd-reissue of the vinyl-exclusive final album of Mekanik Kommando. Originating from Nijmegen, this band is truly unique to the barren and bleak musical landscape that is Holland. It's hard to believe that this ensemble has the same birthplace as that of bands such as Ayreon. This collective excells in modesty and creating an ethereal atmosphere which is constant throughout the album. “The Castle of Fair Welcome” is an amalgamation of krautrock, folk, psychedelic and ambient and seeing how this was originally released in 1988, many of the influences I had in mind for it were not even active yet. Disregarding the obvious timeline flaws, there's definitely some overlap with bands such as: (Early) Porcupine Tree, No-Man, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Magma, Tangerine Dream and in some instances Tortoise or indeed even The Beatles. Full album excluding the short (0.35) twelfth track 'Where The Fish Can Sing': Their third album 'Firetree' from 1996 is on bandcamp in full: http://mellowrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-use-of-ashes-firetree. |

I obviously forgot about this thread but after having listened to these samples I think it's fair to notify the PSIKE team. I modt definitely like what I'm hearing.
Sorry for the 3 year wait |
