Hi guys

I know we have a few Aussie prog heads here and I'm particularly aiming this at those in Adelaide, South Australia.

We have a rare opportunity to bring The Crimson ProjeKct, which is as close as us Aussies are going to get to King Crimson (minus Robert Fripp) – to Adelaide on 30 JUNE 2014. I was extremely disappointed to see Adelaide miss out yet again when the Crimson Project Australian tour was announced so after making contact with the promoter, Tombowler - they came back to me with a Pledge campaign to see if there was sufficient interest here to stage a show. A tentative date has been set aside for June 30 at one of Adelaide's most prestigious venues, The Gov!

The band probably needs no introduction but includes former Crims Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto and they are touring on the back of their newly released album on InsideOut Music - Live in Japan.

So if you live in Adelaide (or are feeling generous and would like to help), head on over to:

http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/thecrimsonprojekct

where you can choose from several tailored packages. If we reach our target - we need about 300 pledgers - the gig will go ahead. But you need to act now as time is ticking....

Please note that your credit card will only be charged if we reach our target and the gig goes ahead.

This is your opportunity to get behind a campaign to bring this unique band to Adelaide and witness 3 hours of outstanding musicianship featuring the music of King Crimson. Let's make it happen!

Oh f**k yeh. Count me in for this. To all the Adelaide prog rock dudes we met at the Steven Wilson Melbourne gig last year lets get behind this.
I saw The Adrian Belew Power Trio in Adelaide for the Guitar Festival several years ago and they were just awesome. Was particularly cool to notice that the dude standing next to me enjoying the show was Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd bass player).

That's great! Please pass the word around mate! Can't remember if we met at the Steven Wilson show or not but either way, you obviously have good taste in music! I always complain that we miss out on touring acts in Adelaide so at least this is an opportunity for us to put our money where our mouths are and get behind this to hopefully show that it is worth bringing artists like this here.

Cheers!

Great news!!Thumbs Up

I contacted the band's management and the promoter when the original dates
were announced begging them to play Adelaide.

The band said they were happy to play anywhere and it was up to the promoter.
They gave me the usual BS about Adelaide not having the audience and so they
would loose money playing here.

I will be going and my kids as well.Headbanger

Nearly at 10% in the first week which isn't bad. We just need to get the word out there. I contacted the Gov who said they would put it in their newsletter. I've also contacted DB Magazine and Rip It Up. If any of you know of any other prog forums (I did post it on Progressive Ears as well) then please help spread the word. Smile

2 weeks in and we're at 21%. We still have 28 days to go. The Gov has advertised this in their latest newsletter as well. Keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get there. If you've been thinking about it, now's the time to pledge people!

News received from the promoter today:

Keep pushing. What you are doing is the future – fan activists getting the excitement rolling. Bringing bands to Adelaide is going to be a thing of the past if music lovers don’t recreate the scene.

We ain’t dead yet!

It helps that the band really want this to work.

If anyone has ideas on how to push this, please speak up. I've tried contacting the street press but they weren't overly helpful. I've suggested to the promoter that they approach the Adelaide Guitar Festival people given that Adrian Belew performed for them a couple of years back. Community radio could be another option? We need to get the word out any way we can.

I would have thought this right up 3D FM radio's alley.

Come on let's get this happening.

It's going to go down to the wire by the look of things.
I hope they are not too pedantic.

I've bought more tickets and merchandise than I need , but could drop in some more if it gets to the wire.  80% at last look , a Friedan of mine says he knows lots of crimson fans in Adelaide but none are going as they don't bother with live gigs anymore . We don't deserve bands like this , we really don't ....

Well I just got the notification to say it's at 99% and they will start charging credit cards shortly. So in the words of Barry Manilow Tongue Looks like we made it!

Thanks to all of you who supported this campaign! It's a real step forward for Adelaide. I must admit, I didn't think it was going to happen for a while there but so glad it is. I really think this is the way of the future for gigs (certainly in Adelaide anyway). Well done guys and I hope you all enjoy the show!
