What was previously an IZZ concert has suddenly become a full day event with a line-up of IZZ, Resistor, Baked Beans, Sonus Umbra, Mavara at the Regent Theater in Arlington on May 31st

Excellent news!!

Is NewEARS an acronym for something?

Cool news as well.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

Ordered my ticket when it was just Izz & Sonus Umbra.

I know Resistor pretty well - their most recent release, "To the Stars" is presently available for streaming at wwww.progstreaming.com - really good stuff.  I've heard some of Mavara's music.  Never heard of Baked Beans - anyone know of a site that might give us a taste of what to expect?

Sorry to say, but you missed a great one.

To answer my own previous question, the band Baked Beans is a group of 4 sophomores from Arlington High School. They opened with a ripping instrumental take on "21st Century Schizoid Man" and followed that up with a great set of jazz-infused prog rock.  Talented guys!

Great to meet Nogbad from this forum.  I was the guy in the Atom Heart Mother shirt - which the bass player from Mavara seemed to appreciate.

It was certainly a fun day, great to see the bands and meeting friends.

Sonus Umbra - seriously fun, heavier than I thought they'd be.
Might Could - great interplay between the guitars, probably my favorite performance
Resistor - Classic Rock mixed with proggy elements, pretty good, I could have done without the cheesy illuminated violin bow.
Mavara - nice start to the day, better performance than ProgDay, good fun set, singer needs to work on his stage presence.
Baked Beans - missed the start of he set due to a drinks run, what I heard sounded like good fusion
Izz - missed them due to be being too tired and having an hour of public transport to get home.

Probably upwards of 100 people there for the evening session, probably closer to 50 in the afternoon, hope they had enough fans to justify putting it on again as it was fun. Only complaint was that the venue was dry so had to head outside to local restaurants for a drink in the 20 minutes between bands. Arlington seems devoid of bars. I realize that the Regent was a late switch when the original venue didn't get their permits but in future I prefer to be able to get a beer or two.

Congratulations to the NewEARS team for an excellent fun event, hope it becomes an annual event.

I'll be at the Ozrics gig so hope to see you there
Ian
