Would you rather A. Your favorite prog albums/songs remain the same for a long time.
B. Your favorite prog albums/songs change a lot from time to time.

I'm certainly B and it feels great.  There is strong reason for me to keep collecting albums.

For A to be true: just stop listening to any new/untried Prog and your current faves will never change
For B to be true: continue to listen to new/untried Prog and your favourite Prog albums may change

I clearly don't understand the question eitherConfused

if i had to choose i somehow would like them to stay the same, because it feels good to have a constant and reliable source of everlasting pleasure
but its definately B for me, too which is also very nice but just doesnt feel so faithful to the most loved albums ;)
It's just a ride... <3

After thinking about it, my top favorite albums haven't changed for a while, but I have added a few into the mix. The fact that a new album comes and I get to like it a lot, does not make the other less significant and important to me, so I would say that instead of changing, the list grows.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

For some bands "A" works and for some "B" works better.

Rush has altered/adjusted their style at various points in their career to great effect.

Canada's other long-running prog band Saga has, too, but they produced some very commercial output (YMMV) and then they tried a done-in-one conceptual album (Generation 13), also with mixed results. Then they released what has been dubbed the "contractual obligation" album (something Rush has never done), and it was finally after that that Saga re-embraced their traditional approach with Full Circle to the roaring approval of their fan base.

So, yes, it depends on what you like!

Are you perhaps talking about new versions or re-interpretations of earlier fave classics?

I voted for option B; however, my preferred choice is C: w**kel rotary engine

I would no more like my tastes to be static than I would like my w**ky rotors to be.
Just a fanboy passin' through.

I'm a Prog head, therefore I'm always progressing so CHANGE is always gonna be evident.
Thus, my list changes every decade or so.

One that will never leave my list though is Fields Of The Nephilim's Elizium.
That is one of the best damn albums I've ever heard.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

If  I understand the question correctly, I'd choose B. I just grow weary of not discovering new, fresh, exciting, innovative works. However, I do miss the love for Soft Machine, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and Yes, and I try to recapture it. If it was A, I wouldn't like anything else but that short set of albums and songs.
