Hi,
I've been contacted by MARGIN, a German band from Berlin for a review. They have just released their first full length album. They are not in PA and they may be suitable also for Prog Folk, IMO, anyway they define themselves as a psychedelic band. Here the link to samples from their album "Psychedelic Teatime" |

@octpus-4
Many thanks for your mention of MARGIN. I give some further information about this project: "Psychedelic Teatime" - the title from the debut album from the Berlin psychedlic prog project MARGIN reveals an agenda. Because if the different parts of the predominantly as longtracks realized titles flow together, musical structures are falling apart and new structures will develop and melodies, sounds and noises fuse together, the spirit of PINK FLOYD seems to blow through the notes. However, despite the significant psychedelic influence MARGIN keeps his autonomy by melting psychedelic art rock with progressive rock in a homogenous and unique way. Therefore the debut "Psychedelic Teatime" from MARGIN is not only in the tradition of the great psychedelic art rock in the heyday from the late 1960s through the mid-1970s, but also proves to be likewise a reference album for contemporary psychedelic prog. If it is more psychedelic or more progressive the listener may consider... More informations and samples you will find at: www.madvedge.com And here again is the album teaser link at youtube. Enjoy watching & listening! |

When we include an artist in the site we add a short bio, so any onformation of this kind will be useful when the psych team will complete the evaluation process (we don't want to be like allmusic.com, that's why we have teams for each prog subgenre). Once the addition is complete (I guess it will) I'll post the link to the band's page here.

Now checking their album excerpt ... a nice mainstream-y bluesy one with psych notches.
Via this excerpt, sounds like more of crossover than typically psychedelic progressive, but any more samples I can listen to? |

I'll ask them.
They are strongly influenced by Pink Floyd and this is the reason why they call themselves "space rock", more than psychhedelic, I think.

I have to agree with Keishiro as I only know one full track 'Landscapes On The Sky', taken from an ECLIPSED sampler.
This one sounds more in a singer/songwriter vein, equipped with some folk and psychedelic impressions (which then surely tends to crossover prog) The official Album Teaser video on the other hand offers a few more psych and space rock facets. Would be helpful if we could hear/stream the whole album ... |

@All
Many thanks for your interest in our album! I think the music style is a real fusion of psychedelic art rock, classic progressive rock with some fusion and folk elements. We and others like ECLIPSED-Magazin call it "psychedelic prog". I think that's the best definition. But surely it's not space rock in the kind of hawkwind or spacy session rock or singer-sonwriter style. But make up your own mind about it. You will get rapidly a link to a mp3-Download of th e whole album per private message. Information about Margin you find here: http://www.madvedge.com/index.php/margin_en.html Information about this album and more samples you find here: http://www.madvedge.com/index.php/discography.html Finally some further information about this album: All titles written, arranged and produced by Lutz Meinert. Recorded and mixed by Lutz Meinert at Imago Studio Berlin, Germany Mastered by Stefan Noltemeyer at CD-Premaster Berlin. Album design and paintings by Lutz Meinert. released on June 30, 2014 At time global available only at Madvedge Records (http://www.madvedge.com/index.php/orders.html) And we endeavour to to set up a sales organisation in foreign countries. In this case we are grateful for every suggestion submitted to us by you. For us as independent label it would be a great help. Best psychedelic-proggy regards and and enjoy listening to the titles! |

Here
the band Info on MARGIN for supporting the band submission process:
MARGIN (psychedelic prog)
Biography MARGIN was founded in 2011 as studio project by Lutz Meinert. Before he played as singer, keyboarder and drummer in several inexistent Geman bands from 1979 till 2002, like CAMENBERT (rock, progressive rock), BIZARR (rock), KEEX (progressive rock), SOLARIS (jazz rock), IMAGO (progressive rock) and FOR YOUR PLEASURE (rock, folk rock, progressive rock). Indeed in this project the musical past of Lutz Meinert often shines through. But here the psychedelic prog is the focus, the melting of psychedelic art rock with progressive rock - both in the style at the end of the sixties till the middle of the seventies. As a result of a multiannual studio work where the titles were developed and recorded the debut album Psychedelic Teatime released on June 30, 2014 by Madvedge Records. Here Lutz Meinert was supportet by his wife Carola (background vocals) and Arne Spekat (acoustic guitar) who also played before as bass player and occasionally as guitarist in FOR YOUR PLEASURE and several other inexistent Geman bands, like SAFTLADEN (krautrock), X-CHANGE (funk), PEER GYNT (fusion), SKYLARK (folk), Reve (folk) and HUNTING THE HARE (folk).
