Why Do you prefer Prog over other music genres?

I decided that my love for prog is too big to put in one single post.  So I just listed one reason that resonated with me on that day.

I love rock music, so with solid bass and drums. But I love when the drums (and also bass) play with a bit more imagination than in "standard" rock. I love to hear keyboards, such as Hammond organs, mellotrons, and many other variations. I love songs/music to develop, thus three minute tracks are not very interesting, and I love longer tracks.
I also am a sucker for great guitar solo's. These are just a few reasons why I love prog,

I prefer prog over other genres simply because I usually get bored otherwise! I want new ideas, moods and variations to come up as often as possible, I enjoy the creativity of odd time signatures and unexpected chord/key changes, and I like to hear themes come back in songs, but in new ways.
(Of course I also want music to be emotional and move me, but all those other things are rarely found outside of prog.)

Along with that reason, is I simply find most prog has more time or thought put into it than other genres. When done properly, it becomes a beautiful thing, a piece of art in the form of music. I find it's also often played by experienced musicians with decades spent on other forms of material first. For me, I prefer progressive ____ (anything) over the non prog counterpart of the same genre, namely folk, rock, and metal. Concept albums (my favourite) generally tell a story or at least have a conflict and a resolution of some sort. As a person that really doesn't watch much TV or movies, this sort of fulfills that "need" for me. I love it when albums have a fantastically epic finisher that just builds, and builds, and reaches an amazing level of intensity before drifting to a close. (BTW if you know any good albums like that, let me know!) Other genres rarely give me that feeling I get.

However I do listen to rock, metal(as mentioned above) punk, ska, grunge, acoustic, electronic, metalcore, jazz, and some hip hop.
To name a few, Hammerfall, Avenged Sevenfold, Eminem, Marcy Playground, Gojira, Sinatra, The Black Seeds, Immortal Technique, Billy Joel, Queen, Streetlight Manifesto, Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Ratatat, The White Stripes, Neutral Milk Hotel, A Perfect Circle, Zion I.

 I think I remember a poll here about what was the proggiest instrument.

Because prog is when you drop your headphones, put them back on, and wonder how in the hell your song shifted to what it is now.
